In the boys 16-18 division, Elliot Mehler from Flemming Island, FL was our first place finisher. Mehler did a great job on the course and finished the weekend with an exceptional scorecard. With seven birdies on the weekend, he put up scores of 74 and 71 totaling 145 strokes. The runner up honors went to Santiago Amador from Bucaramanga, Colombia. His scores of 75 in round 1 and 74 in round 2 gave him a total of 149 strokes. Finishing up top three honors, Griffin Latimer from Canton, GA had scores of 75 for both days with a weekend total of 150.

2023 Major Championship at Birdsfoot

In the boys 16-18 division, Thomas Caffarelli from Scottsdale, AZ finished the weekend as our champion. Caffarelli secured his victory after a playoff against Zachary Huscusson from Clinton, OH. Coming down the 18th fairway both players were neck and neck. After a par from Caffarelli and a birdie from Huscusson, the boys were forced into a playoff. Caffarelli took control of the playoff to be the champion for the weekend. This was Caffarelli’s second HJGT tournament of the year; earlier this month he placed 3rd at the Summer College Prep Series at Penn State. Huscusson finished the weekend with a scorecard of 143 strokes. We applaud his efforts in the playoff, his next tournament will be in July at the Cleveland Summer Junior Open.

Our winner in the boys 16-18 division was Colby Stephens from Willow Spring, NC. Stephens did a fantastic job on the course this weekend bringing in great scores. With eight birdies on the weekend, he brought in a 77 for round 1 and 74 for round 2. He finished the weekend with a total of 151 strokes. This was Colby’s second HJGT tournament, he will participate in the Greensboro Junior Open at Forest Oaks in July. With a score of 155 strokes along with seven birdies, Ryder Hodgson places as our runner up honors. Hodgson, from Montclair, NJ is currently in the Top 15 for HJGT point rankings. Finishing up top three honors was Grayson Hanna from Raleigh, NC with a total of 157 strokes.

Taking home first place in the boys 16-18 division was Elijah Felty from North Chesterfield, VA. Felty brought in an impressive scorecard this weekend. With six birdies on the weekend, he scored a 72 in round 1 and 73 in round 2 totaling 145 for the weekend. Ellis Hobbie from Glen Allen, VA put up scores of 74 and 72 to secure him the spot of runner up honors. Zazael Arlan Atendido from Bensenville, IL brought in his lowest score in an HJGT tournament. He placed in the top three honors with a total of 148.
