WEST PALM BEACH – The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Southeast Florida Junior Open at Ibis Golf Club on July 9th. Boys and girls traveled from all over the globe to participate in the 18-hole tournament. The event had five divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys U10, Girls 14-18 and Girls U13.
In the boys 16-18 division, William Keiley from Jupiter, FL finished the tournament in first place. With three birds, he brought in a score of 73 strokes to secure his first win of the year. Keiley has been playing with the HJGT since 2020 with 17 Top 10 finishes under his belt. Taking home the runner up honors was Camera Feiner from Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Feiner had three birdies and a score of 74 strokes. Finishing the top three honors in a tie was Inaki Albarran from Guadalajara, Mexico and Yash Patel from Boynton Beach, FL. Both players brought in a score of 75 strokes.
Alexander Rubin from Wellington, FL took home first place in the boys 14-15 division. Rubin is a newcomer to the HJGT, he has played in three events and his score improves each time. This past weekend he secured the vicory with four birdies and a total of 77 strokes. With a final score of 78, Troy Gadalla from Vancouver, Canada places as the runner up honors. This follows an outstanding first place win at the TPC Treviso Bay Junior Open. Cole Laffere from Miami, FL, Udai Aditya Middha from New Dehli, India and Gabriel Penagos Flores from Guatemala, Guatemala all tied for the top three honors with a final score of 79.
In the boys under 10 division, Hunter Williams from St. Augustine, FL finished in first place. With two birdies, he brought in a score of 78 strokes. Williams has participated in eight HJGT tournaments and has placed in the Top 3 in all eight. He is ranked eighth in the HJGT point rankings. With a final score of 83, Bear Sullivan took home the runner up honors. Sullivan, from Vero Beach, FL is an up-and-coming player on tour, he is within the Top 10 of HJGT point rankings.
Abigail Sheldon from Boca Raton, FL was the first place finisher in the girls 14-18 division. This was her second event of the year and her first win. Abigail brought in two birdies and a score of 77 strokes. The runner up honors went to Nicole Wu from Davie, FL with a score of 78 strokes. Darci Wagner from Vero Beach, FL finishes up the top three honors, she put up a score of 82 strokes.
To finish off a great tournament, Fernanda Carrion from Coral Gables, FL was crowned champion of the girls under 13 division. In her first tournament, she brought in three birdies and a score of 73 strokes. Lilly Parker from North Palm Beach, FL placed as our runner up honors with a score of 75 strokes. This follows a first place finish at the 54 Hole Celebration Junior Open. Finishing up the top three honors, Vivianne Cheuk Kiu Kan from Melbourne, Australia with a score of 79 strokes.
