Harry Brenner of Boca Raton, Florida shot an impressive three under, two-day total of 141 to drive his way to an easy 13-stroke victory in the Boy's 15-18 division. He finished 13 ahead of Miami, Florida native Jake Moscoco who shot a final round 78 to make for a close finish in second, finishing just two strokes ahead of Justin Freidman of Boca Raton, Florida. Brenner’s win earns him an invite to the 2015 Tour Championship December 5-6. Congratulations!
Boynton Beach, Florida native Nicklas Staub took an early lead in the first round with a 76 to separate himself from the rest of the field but squeaked by with only a two-stroke victory Boy's 13-14 age division. His two-day total of 157 was just enough to secure him the victory over second place finisher Christopher Poppy Lee of Loxahatchee, Florida and third place finisher Allan Kournikova of Palm Beach, Florida. Staub earns his second victory this season with the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. Good work!
Julia Durkin of Miramar, Florida with an awesome comeback victory after shooting 11 over in round one for the Girl's 15-18 age division. Durkin managed to hold off Julia Matzat of Parkland, Florida with her one under in the final round, for a two-day total of 154. Calling Durkin the underdog of the tournament would be an understatement as she followed a day one 83, with a 71 in the final round! Coming in second, Matzat’s consistency of a first round 78 and final round 77 put her at a comfortable six strokes ahead of Katie Childers of Northville, Michigan. Amazing golf, Durkin!
Brianna Fitzpatrick of Port St. Lucia, Florida with a tough victory for the Girl's 11-14 age division, for a two-day total of 168. It was a hard final round for our girls’ 11-14 junior golfers as all three of our placers shot over par in the 80’s. Fitzpatrick with a consistent 84 for both rounds put her finishing just two strokes ahead of Sarah Scott of Oviedo, Florida. Amelia Novoa of Coral Springs, Florida with her first Hurricane Junior Golf Tour appearance finished not far behind for a two-day total of 175. Keep up the hard work, ladies! Weather: Day 1- Low of 77 to high of 90, funnel cloud Day 2- Low of 76 to high of 91, partly cloudy, full day of annoying gnats and mosquitos!
