Louisville Junior Challenge

 (October 22-23, 2016)

Louisville Slugging through 18

This weekend the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Louisville, Kentucky to take on the Oxmoor Country Club golf course. It was a beautiful weekend as the golfers were able to handle the tough challenges the course had to offer. Thank you to the Oxmoor Country Club for allowing HJGT to host this event at their wonderful course. All age divisions were in play this weekend as Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings were on the line. The top ten finishers in each division will receive points towards the Hurricane Cup. Additionally, the winner of each division will be invited to play in the National Championship held later this year in December.    Boys 16-18 Division

All men were from Louisville, Kentucky to complete the sweep. Our top three finishers all finished with the most birdies in the group to propel them into the leaderboards. The most pars in this division came from George Schmid, who finished with 21. Doyle played very consistent throughout the weekend and he was able to finish second on total scoring on the front and back 9. All of the golfers had a great time competing against one another and look forward to competing again in the future.  Girls 14-18 Division

Both young women finished with 161. In third place was Keista Elder, who finished just 5 strokes behind the leaders. Third place finisher Elder had the most birdies in this division. Suo had the most pars with 21. Suo also had the most holes consecutively without shooting bogey. The young ladies this weekend were all able to finish with a smile on their faces. After day one there was a tight race for the top spot. After 36 holes were completed, it was Matthew Troutman from Louisville, Kentucky who took first.  He posted a 151 over the course of the competition. Coming in second was Cayden Pope, with a 154. Rounding out the top three we had Mason Hamrick who finished 5 strokes behind the champion Troutman. Pope finished with the most birdies with 5, followed by first and third place finishers, Hamrick and Troutman. The top three finishers and Luke Henderson each finished with over 20 holes shooting par or better. Hamrick was the only competitor this weekend to get back to back birdies within the division. Each participant throughout the competition showed their love for the game. We cannot wait to see each of these young men again to help showcase their talents.   Girls U13 Division

Our champion for this division won in a runaway, finishing 30 strokes below her nearest competition. Haili Moore out of Prosper, Texas shot a 79 day one and bettered her score by 5 strokes the second day of competition to finish with a 153. Second place finisher was Emily Warner. Third place was Amy Suo to complete the top three. Moore finished with 4 birdies and 27 holes shooting par or better. The tournament was very lucky to been able to work with all three of these young women. Each of the competitors showed excellent sportsmanship and pride in their golf play,  Boys U10 Division

The champion for this division, Landon Howard, is no stranger to the winner’s circle. Landen posted a first round score of 105, and then went on to better that result by 8 stokes in round 2. It was a positive reflection of the second half effort he demonstrated. The back 9 was where Landen made his mark. Landen really knows when it is time to turn up his game, playing his best golf down the stretch. The HJGT really looks forward to watching Landen’s game progress in the future.  Weather October 22-23, 2016:
