Huntsville Jr. Shootout at Hampton Cove Highland Course

On November 12th and 13th 2016, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Huntsville, Alabama to host the Huntsville Jr. Shootout at Hampton Cove Highland Course. The course was full of nature, hazards, and damp fairways. Saturday was ice cold weather with junior golfers competing heavily among each other on the course. Sunday began with a cold sunrise, and at 8:00 AM, the golfers begin their quest for the championship. Winners in all five age divisions will receive an automatic bid into the National Championship on December 3rd and 4th, 2016. The weekend was full of chills and winds, and every junior golfer played their best to earn possible invitations into the December National Championships.
In the Girls 14-18 division, Savannah Johnson of Hampton Cove, Alabama took home the first place trophy. Johnson shot a first round score of 80 which quickly separated her from the rest of the playing field. Her two-day total of 163 gave her the victory over Jacque Crossland who finished with a 164. Savannah Johnson of Hampton Cove, Alabama was very excited at the thought of winning this particular Hurricane Junior Golf event. All of the participants had an exciting time at Hampton Cove Golf Course. Finishing with the best score, Johnson told our tournament director that she enjoyed the course despite the cold weather and wish to continue playing in future Hurricane Junior Golf tournaments.
In the Boys 16-18 division, after two outstanding rounds, Jackson Singletary of Alabaster, Alabama took home the first place trophy. Singletary shot a first round score of 73 which quickly set him apart from the rest of the playing field. His two-day total of 146 edged him to victory over Ethan Hagwood who finished with a 148. Jackson Singletary of Alabaster, AL was joyful at the thought of winning this Hurricane Junior Golf event. It came down to the final score card which determined a winner for the 16-18 Boy’s division. All of the participants had a wonderful time at Hampton Cove Golf Club. Finishing with the best score, Jack told our tournament director that he enjoyed the competitive playing field and wishes to continue competing in Hurricane Junior Golf events.
In the Girls 13U division, Jinger Heath of Decatur, Alabama took home the first place trophy. Heath shot a first round score of 93 and a second round score of 88. Her two-day total of 181 edged her to victory over Abbigail Brown who finished with a 192.
In the Boys 11-13 age division, Evan Reed of Shelbyville, TN took home the first place trophy. Reed had an amazing first round one score of 66 and a second round score of 72. Tedford tournament total was 138. Karsten Bryan of Golden, MS took home the second place trophy. Bryan had a round one score of 74 and a round two score of 81. His tournament total was 155.
In the Boys 14-15 division, A. Jacks Green of Franklin, TN took home the first place trophy with an overall score of 147. Green shot a round one score of 75, and a round two score of 72. Although the wind was a factor throughout the second round of the tournament, Green attained his ability to defeat Ethan Ray of Collierville, TN who shot an overall score of 148. The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2008 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of five age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Girls 14-18, and Girls 11-13.
