Disney Junior Classic
(July 29-30th, 2017)
On Thursday July 27th the Hurricane Junior Golf tour travelled to the beautiful Walt Disney Resort at Magic Kingdom to host the Disney Junior Classic at the Magnolia Course. With beautiful weather on Saturday the players had a blast at the scenic golf course, and while the skies were gloomy and there was some rain on Sunday morning, the players persevered, posting some great scores! Disney really is a place where magic happens!
Ryan Dever of Davie, FL, is the Boys 16-18 champion. Dever prevailed on the second playoff hole over Kuihao Huang, posting rounds of 78 and 73 for a two-day total of 148. 3rd place was split between Luke McCarthy of Tallahassee, FL, and Kim Kang of Howey in the Hills, FL, who both carded a two-day total of 153. All of the boys seemed to have a blast on the course, and the scores certainly showed it. Boys 14-15
Brad Hull of Windermere, Fl, is the champion of the Boys 14-15 division. Consistency was key for Hull as he posted a round of 79 Saturday and 76 Sunday for a 155 two-day total. Despite intense competition from playing partner Devin Speight (Mt Juliet, TN), which ended in a playoff, Hull was able to prevail. Lowen Chesley of Orlando, FL, was the 3rd place finisher after a two-day total of 163 (82-81). This division had some great competition and each player can walk away proud of what they accomplished. Boys 11-13
Nicolas Sabogal Burgos of Weston, FL, is the Boys 11-13 champion. After a 75 Saturday, Burgos closed very strongly with a final round of even par 72 to secure the victory finishing with a two-day total of 147. Yige Lin of China finished in a strong 2nd with two-day total of 154 (77-77). Shawn Lalmoni of Orlando, Fl, finished alone in 3rd place with a two-day total of 155 (82-73). These younger boys certainly loved the backdrops provided by Magic Kingdom, and their scores were just as impressive! Girls 14-18
Ying Ting Hsieh of Huantan Township, Taiwan, is the Girls 14-18 champion. Hsieh played phenomenal golf all weekend long with a one under 71 Saturday and a simply stunning three under 69 on Sunday, finishing at 4 under par 140. Finishing in 2nd from Bradenton, FL, was Gabby Tomeo, who posted identical rounds of 73 to finish with a total of 146. Sarah Scott from Oviedo, FL, finished in 3rd place with a two-day total of 157 (82-75). They and the rest of the ladies showed some impressive talent as well as poise and determination through tougher conditions on Sunday. Girls 13U
Alejandra Flerrer of Queretaro, QR, emerged victorious after posting a two-day total of 139 (72-67). Finishing 2nd with a two-day total of 162 (78-84) was Sophie Anand of Albany, The Bahamas. Finishing in 3rd for the Girls 13U was Staci Pla of West Palm Beach, FL, who posted rounds of 85 and 80 for a total of 165. The girls displayed tremendous fortitude while trekking through the difficult course layout and weather. Boys 10U
Enrique Ruben Herrlein of Parana, ER, took home the 1st place trophy for the Boys 10U division. Herrlein, who was 5 back of Callan Fahey after day one, posted a Sunday score of 78 to finish with a 160 (82-78). Callan Fahey of Wheaton, IL, finished with a two-day total of 161 (75-86). Coming in 3rd in the Boys 10U division was Dallas Torres of Oviedo, Fl, who finished with a 173 (83-90). These boys all did an excellent job all weekend long.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
