Roswall holds off during rain delay

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Harrison, Tennessee on November 16-17 for the Chattanooga Junior Shootout. Inclement weather forced a delay during the second round and eventually rain caused the course to be deemed unplayable. The decision was made to cancel the rest of the event. The boys 15-18 division was the only group to finish 27 holes of golf. The boys 11-14 and the girls 11-18 divisions were considered 18 hole events. Winners in all four divisions received an invitation to the 2013 Tour Championship and top 15 finishers received points towards end of the year honors and the Hurricane Cup.

At the end of the first round, Chase Roswell of Bristol, TN and Logan Price of Chattanooga, TN were tied for first place after shooting rounds of 72 on Saturday. On Sunday Roswall was able to hold off Price by one stroke to win the Boys 15-18 division. Roswall shot a 37 on Sunday while Price shot a 38. Andrew Spiegler of Abingdon, VA and Harris Dodson both tied for 3rd place both shooting a score of 113. Speigler was able to put himself into 3rd place after shooting an Even final round. After finishing Saturday with a round score of 74, Harris Dodson was able to maintain his 3rd place position shooting a final round of 39. This division was the only one to finish 27 holes of golf on Sunday.

At the end of the first round, Katie Bishop of Cleveland, TN was atop the leader board with a round score of 78. Bishop would end up winning the division after inclement weather forced play to stop on Sunday. Meghan Nay of Canton, GA and Bethany Burns of Signal Mountain, TN finished tied for second place after shooting first round scores of 80.

Micah Knisley of Jefferson City, TN and Gavin Noble of Ootewah, TN both shot first round scores of 73 to be crowned co-champions of the Boys 11-14 Division. Knisley led the way with 4 birdies on Saturday while Noble played quite consistently only bogeying 3 holes. Andrew Lafferty of Milton, GA and Dylan Ford of Homewood, AL both finished the first round tied for 3rd place with round scores of 78.  Due to Inclement weather on Sunday we were unable to finish the first nine holes.   Weather: Day 1- Low to mid 50’s, mostly cloudy, fog and mist in the morning. Partly cloudy in the afternoon. Day 2- 56 degrees, mostly cloudy in the morning, rain in the afternoon. Tournament Yardage: Boys 15-18: 6,850 yards Girls 11-18: 5,661 yards Boys 11-14: 6,105 yards   About us: The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2008 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment.
