2013 Season Opener in Fort Lauderdale

With the holiday season officially amongst us, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour is pleased to announce that it will host several tournaments in the South Florida area in early 2013.  The first of those tournaments, which will be kicking off the 2013 schedule, is the Fort Lauderdale Junior Open to be played on January 5-6 at the Woodmont Country Club’s Cypress Course.  New for 2013, players can play in tournaments for non-member pricing and do not need to purchase a membership. Click here for more information about this event As always, the Fort Lauderdale Junior Open will feature four divisions of play, and will feature rankings by the Junior Golf Scoreboard as well as Florida Junior Tour Exemptions.  Also up grabs are valuable points towards the brand new 2013 Hurricane Cup, which will feature the best golfers from each state competing for the right to call their state the best in a team tournament similar in format to the Ryder Cup.  While this is an opportunity to earn valuable points for the 2013 Hurricane Cup, it is also a chance to play at a prestigious golf course.   The 18-hole Cypress course at the Woodmont Country Club in Tamarac, Florida features 7,043 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 74.0 and has a slope rating of 135. Designed by Bruce Devlin, the Cypress golf course opened in 1978. One other feature new to the HJGT in 2013 is its revised pricing options.  Junior Golfers wishing to become an HJGT member will have the option to pay a one-time low price of only 55 dollars which will include special registration prices for every HJGT tournament.   Those electing not to sign up for the 2013 membership plan will also have access to every tournament, however, they will have to pay a higher non-member registration fee.   Following the Fort Lauderdale Junior Open, the HJGT will be returning to South Florida for two events early on in 2013.  In February, the HJGT will host the Palm Beach Junior Challenge at the Binks Forest Golf Club in Wellington on the 9-10, and on March 23-24 the HJGT will host the Southeast Florida Junior Shootout at the Links at Madison Green in Royal Palm Beach.  Both these tournaments will feature Junior Golf Scoreboard Rankings as well as Florida Junior Tour Exemptions.   The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2008 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on tour will compete in one of four age divisions: Boys 15-18, Boys 11-14, Girls 11-14 and Girls 15-18. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the southeast, with stops in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour has announced the release of their new free app for the iPhone, Blackberry and Android.
