Minneapolis Fall Junior Open at Emerald Greens
Learn More
Hastings, MN — The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour’s Minneapolis Fall Junior Open at Emerald Greens Golf Club delivered one of the most competitive finishes of the fall season. In a division loaded with talent, Peyton Albers of Waunakee, WI showed remarkable consistency, carding back-to-back rounds of 70 to finish at 140 (-4) and secure the Boys 16–18 championship.
Albers’ steady play gave him the narrowest of margins in a tournament that saw three players finish just one shot back. Nathan Hoogsteen of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, Jake Palen of Eagan, MN, and Ryder Rose of Edina, MN all closed at 141 (-3) to share runner-up honors. Palen’s opening-round 67 had him leading early, while Rose stormed into contention with a 69 on Sunday, one of the lowest rounds of the day. Hoogsteen matched Albers’ steady play, firing 70–71, but came up just short.
The battle for top-five honors was equally intense. Cooper Daikawa (Lino Lakes, MN) and Tony Ianfolla (Eden Prairie, MN) both finished at even-par 144, with Ianfolla posting a red-hot 69 in the final round to leap up the leaderboard. Just behind them, Myles Jorde (Cando, ND) placed seventh at 145 (+1), while Wyatt Holmes (Lakeville, MN) finished eighth at 147 (+3).
Further down the leaderboard, Jack Brogle (Peterson, MN) posted a bounce-back 72 on Sunday to secure a top-10 finish at 149 (+5). Crosby Montei (Mendota Heights, MN) and Jack Peterson (Lakeville, MN) tied for tenth at 151 (+7), capping off a strong showing for local Minnesota talent.
With a field that featured multiple sub-par rounds, international competition, and a final leaderboard separated by only a handful of shots, the Boys 16–18 division at Emerald Greens was a showcase of both skill and composure. In the end, Albers’ ability to go low on both days and keep mistakes to a minimum allowed him to hold off a crowded field and lift the trophy in Hastings.
