Welcome to this week’s junior golf tournament preview for July 13-14, 2024. Coming off another outstanding weekend on the Hurricane Tour, the upcoming slate of five new events across four states promises to deliver more champions and memories. Here’s a preview of what kids nationwide will experience this weekend:
Cleveland Summer Junior Open
We kick off this tournament preview in Stow, Ohio which is located just 40 minutes outside of Cleveland. Fox Den Golf Course will host this tournament and the course is known for its beautifully landscaped fairways, challenging course design, and welcoming atmosphere. This public course offers a diverse range of holes that cater to golfers of all skill levels, featuring well-maintained greens, strategic bunkers, and water hazards that provide an engaging golfing experience.
Golfers should be aware of hole #2 as it presents a real challenge to any golfer. The 372-yard par-4 includes fairway bunkers, water hazards, and three greenside bunkers that put a golfer’s skills to the test.
Weather Forecast: On Saturday, a mainly sunny sky. High 78F. Winds NNE at 5 to 10 mph. On Sunday, intervals of clouds and sunshine in the morning with more clouds for later in the day. High 83F. Winds N at 5 to 10 mph.
Heathrow/Legacy Junior Open
For the next tournament, we head down to Florida where this event will be split across two courses which are both a part of the Heathrow Country Club. The first day will be played at Legacy Club at Alaqua Lakes which is known for being carved around a dense forest of lush, mature trees with spectacular topography, dramatic slopes, rises, and knolls unique to Florida. The second day will be played at Heathrow Country Club Course which has hosted nine US Open Qualifiers, this Par 71 has been offering a spirited challenge to golfers of all skill levels for more than two decades.
On day one of the tournament at Legacy Club at Alaqua Lakes golfers should take into account the par-5 hole #4. It stretches to a distance of 536 yards. On the second day at the Heathrow Country Club Course, golfers must be aware of the par-4 hole #5. This hole has a maximum distance of 391 yards and a dogleg left.

Major Championship at Tiffany Greens
The Hurricane Tour heads to Kansas City, Missouri where elite junior golfers will be teeing off at Tiffany Greens Golf Club. This course is well known for its wide fairways and open views. Since opening in 1999, Tiffany Greens has been ranked one of the top courses in the state and has hosted the Champions Tour TD Waterhouse Championship.
Golfers will need to pay extra attention to hole #3. This 425-yard par-4 is best played by positioning yourself well off the tee to set up for this difficult second shot. Missing the green on your approach shot makes it very difficult to get up and down from any position.

On Sunday, mostly cloudy skies with a few showers later in the day. High 81F. Winds ESE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 40%.
Saint Simons Island Junior Open
The Hurricane Tour moves down south to St. Simons, Georgia where junior golfers will look to compete at iconic King and Prince Golf Course. The course is known for having the most unique and engaging Georgia golf resorts around. Owned and operated by The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort, this award-winning course is renowned for its challenging layout among ancient forests, salt marshes, and dramatic island scenery.
The golf course features MiniVerde, ultra-dwarf Bermuda grass. Green collars are 60” around each green and planted with Tifsport Bermuda. Bunkers have been recently reshaped with all sand replaced, while all fairways and rough grasses are planted with the more shade-tolerant Celebration Bermuda grass. A vast lake characteristic on the 9th hole is overlooked by the comfortable King and Prince Golf Club.

Sandy Burr Junior Open
For the last event in this tournament preview, we head up to Wayland, Massachusetts which is just a 25-minute drive from Boston. Here the renowned New Sandy Burr Country Club is set to host some of the best junior golfers. The course is known for traditional Ross design and challenging green complexes, the course has tested amateurs and professionals alike for over a century.
One hole that all golfers should be aware of is hole #6 “Trap Hill.” The 408-yard par-4 has a sharp dogleg right and two water hazards near the tee box.
