Alumni Spotlight Macy Langan

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour is proud to feature Furman University women’s golfer Macy Langan for this week’s Alumni Spotlight.

Macy was a very active member of the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour, competing in over 10 tournaments between 2010 and 2013.

Her success with the HJGT started in 2010 as she played in her first and only tournament of that year, the Central Florida Junior Classic. It was there that she placed 3rd to claim her first Top 3 finish.

In 2011, Macy played in 4 tournaments throughout the course of the year. She began the season at the Mission Inn Junior Challenge in which she placed 3rd. A month later, Macy finished 16th at the 54 Hole Challenge at Fleming Island. For her third tournament at the JWU Series at the University of Florida, Macy tied for 7th. To finish the season, she tied for 18th at the HJGT Tour Championship.

Macy participated in 4 more tournaments in 2012 and clenched her first victory. She tied for 4th at the Major Championship at Timacuan (Upper Divisions). At the Kikkor Golf Series at Hawks Landing, Macy placed 1st to win the tournament. She placed 2nd a month later at the Central Florida Junior Classic and concluded the 2012 season at the HJGT Tour Championship where she tied for 25th.

Her final year, 2013, was Macy’s most successful year on tour with the HJGT. To start the year, she finished 12th at the JWU Series at IMG. Her next two tournaments, the Gainesville Junior Challenge and the 54 Hole Challenge at the Brickyard, were both 1st place victories. She tied for 5th at the JWU Series at Timacuan and in her final tournament with the HJGT, she placed 2nd at the Major Championship at Jekyll.

Macy has since graduated from Furman University, and played for their women’s golf team for 3 seasons. In 2013-14 she tied for 30th at the Florida State Match-Up and placed 88th at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. She participated in the Lady Paladin Invitational in both the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons, finishing in 80th and tying for 57th place, respectively. Through 12 rounds as a Paladin, she made 946 strokes for a scoring average of 78.8.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour is proud of Macy’s success not only on the tour, but in her collegiate career at Furman University.
