Alumni Spotlight Austin Hitt

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour Alumni Spotlight is proud to
feature UNC Chapel Hill golfer, Austin Hitt.

Prior to his collegiate golf career, Austin participated in
several tournaments with the HJGT, playing as a member in 2012 and 2013.

Austin’s first event on tour was in 2012 at the Orlando
Junior Challenge, followed by the Palm Beach Jr. Challenge, just a few weeks
after, placing 8th in both. In April, he played in back-to-back
tournaments, the Orange Lake Junior Open and the IMG CC Junior Classic, where
he finished 11th and tied for 11th, respectively.
Austin’s best result finish of the year came at the 54 Hole Mid-Season
Championship in June where he placed 4th. His last tournament of the
season was the Central Florida Junior Classic that resulted in a T31 finish.

The 2013 season was short but sweet for Austin as he
completed in just one tournament, the JWU Series at Timacuan. He tied for
first, but lost in the playoff, resulting in his second-place finish. He made
145 strokes through the thirty-six holes, leading his playing field with the
most birdies (9) and tied for the longest birdie or better streak (3) and the
lowest scoring average (72.5).

The rising UNC Chapel Hill junior started in all 13 of UNC’s
tournaments as a freshman. In the 2016-17 season, Austin played the best round
(67) by a Tar Heel in the final round of an NCAA Regional since 2005. Last
year, he qualified for the 2017 U.S. Amateur in Los Angeles. He shot an -8 64
to tie the course record in the first round of the U.S. Amateur qualifier at
King & Bear Golf Club in St. Augustine, Florida.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour wishes Austin Hitt the best
of luck in the rest of his golf career!
