Junior golfer Daniel Garcia made his Hurricane Junior Golf Tour debut in unforgettable fashion, winning his first-ever HJGT event in a dramatic playoff at St. Simons Island. The victory marked a special milestone in his young career, and we had the chance to catch up with Daniel to hear more about his journey, his love for the game, and his advice for other junior golfers looking to improve.

Getting to Know Daniel

Daniel is a junior at Belen Jesuit Preparatory School in Miami, Florida, where he balances his passion for golf with hobbies like photography and video editing. For him, golf is more than just a sport—it’s an opportunity to express creativity and strategic thinking.

“I love the freedom and creativity of golf,” Daniel shared. “Every shot is different, and I enjoy making strategic decisions and finding unique ways to play each hole. Also, I love nature, so combining these two factors is what makes golf so special to me.”

What’s in Daniel’s Bag?

Daniel’s setup is all Titleist, with a mix of precision and power to suit his playing style:

  • Driver: Titleist TSR3
  • Fairway Woods: Titleist TSR2 (3-wood & 5-wood)
  • Irons: Titleist T150 (4-iron through gap wedge)
  • Wedges: Titleist SM9 (56° & 60°)
  • Putter: Scotty Cameron Phantom X

A Playoff Win to Remember

Competing in his first HJGT event, Daniel found himself in a playoff for the title. With nerves of steel and a strong mental game, he sealed the win in thrilling fashion.

“Winning my first event with HJGT was an incredible experience, especially since it also included my first-ever playoff hole to win a tournament,” Daniel said. “I really liked how the tournament was organized and the pace of play. The way I stayed focused for 54 holes was sticking to my pre-shot routine, and honestly, the nice scenery of St. Simons Island helped to keep my mind clear.”

Looking Ahead

Daniel’s tournament schedule is packed with exciting events, and he’s eager for the challenges ahead.

“I’m really looking forward to the HJGT Tournament of Champions, the Junior Tour World Championship, and hopefully another varsity team appearance at states next year.”

The Road to College Golf

Like many junior golfers, Daniel has aspirations of playing Division I golf at the collegiate level. However, no matter where his path takes him, he’s committed to keeping golf in his life.

“I would love to play D1 college golf, but if I am unable to, I will still play—whether it be on my own time or in a college club,” he said.

Advice for Aspiring Junior Golfers

When asked what advice he would give to other young golfers looking to compete at a high level, Daniel emphasized the importance of self-awareness, fitness, and perseverance.

“Keep a good record of your stats and practice based on what you find you need the most help on. It takes time, but it pays off. Make sure you work out and get strong, not only physically but mentally.”

Conclusion

Daniel Garcia’s first HJGT victory is just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting journey in junior golf. His strategic mindset, passion for the game, and dedication to improvement set a great example for other aspiring players. We can’t wait to see what he accomplishes next!
