South Florida Junior Open

From February 25-26, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the South Florida Junior Open The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of six divisions that included the Boys 16-18 Division, Boys 14-15 Division, Boys 11-13 Division, Boys Under 10 Division,  Girls 14-18 Division, and Girls Under 13 Division.

Boys 16-18

South Florida Junior Open

Cameron Kuchar from St. Simons Island, GA was the first-place finisher this weekend. Kuchar brought in scores of 72 and 67 for a combined total of 139 for the weekend. Reese Woodbury from Stuart, FL was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 77 and 70 for a combined total of 147. Jack Kantowski from Boca Raton, FL finished the top three honors with scores of 78 and 72 for a weekend total of 150.

Tien Do from Tampa, FL was the first-place finisher this weekend. Do brought in scores of 75 and 71 for a combined total of 146 for the weekend. Charlie Woods from North Palm Beach, FL was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 75 and 71 for a combined total of 146. Do defeated Woods in a playoff. Leo Oberbeck from Sankt Augustin, Germany finished the top three honors with scores of 78 and 71 for a weekend total of 149.

Cole Laffere from Miami, FL was the first-place finisher this weekend. Laffere brought in a score of 76 on both days for a combined total of 152 for the weekend. Carson Lowe from West Palm Beach, FL was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 83 and 78 for a combined total of 161. Hudson Ellis from West Palm Beach, FL finished the top three honors with scores of 100 and 97 for a weekend total of 197.

Grace Carter from Jupiter, FL was the first-place finisher this weekend. Carter brought in a score of 69 on both days for a combined total of 138 for the weekend. Eva Lye from Naples, FL was the runner up for the weekend with a score of 79 on both days for a combined total of 158. Miriam Barcalova from Boynton Beach, FL , Kaitlyn Hummers from West Palm Beach, FL, and Abigail Smith from Port Saint Lucie, FL all tied to finished out the top three honors. Barcalova’s scores of 82 and 78, Hummers’ scores of 84 and 76, and Smith’s scores of 85 and 75 all combined for a weekend total of 160.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 8-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. The tour’s vision is to provide superb hospitality and make every event a memorable one. With play open to both males and females, nearly every junior golfer is eligible to participate on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. Currently the HJGT is the largest multi-day junior golf tour in the United States hosting more 2-day nationally ranked events than any other tour. The HJGT has been able to achieve this goal by running the most professional events and providing an exceptional value to all of our players and families over the last 14 years.

Based out of Orlando, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the country. In 2021, the HJGT will conduct events in Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Canada. Juniors will compete in 1 of 6 divisions which are: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys under 10, Girls 14-18, and Girls Under 13. Click here to view approximate yardages for each division. The HJGT season is based on a calendar year and players earn points throughout the season towards year end honors beginning December 31, 2021.
