Charleston, SC — The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour’s Charleston Junior Open at Charleston National Country Club featured an international field and testing course conditions, but it was Cindy Moreki of Vanderbijlpark, South Africa who rose above the competition to capture the Girls 14–18 division championship. Moreki opened the weekend with a composed round of 79 on Saturday, putting herself in prime position heading into the final day. Despite tougher conditions on Sunday that challenged every player in the field, she closed with an 85 to finish at 164 (+20), securing a four-shot victory. Her consistency and mental fortitude under pressure proved decisive on Charleston National’s narrow fairways and tricky greens. Diana Gao of Foshan, China made a strong push with rounds of 86 and 82 to take runner-up honors at 168 (+24). Olivia Dawley of Charleston, SC finished third at 170 (+26) after steady rounds of 84 and 86, giving local fans plenty to cheer for. Bria Regina of Mt. Pleasant, SC carded 88–87 for a 175 (+31) finish to take fourth, while Phebe Reese of North Augusta, SC rounded out the top five at 180 (+36). Rush City, MN — The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour’s Minnesota Junior Open at Bulrush Golf Club delivered a dramatic finish in the Girls 14–18 division, as Sophia Layman of St. Paul, MN outlasted Reagan Juhl of Stillwater, MN in a playoff to capture the championship. After two days of competition, both Layman and Juhl finished tied at 163 (+19). Juhl posted rounds of 81 and 82, while Layman matched her consistency with scores of 82 and 81. Their back-and-forth battle throughout the weekend showcased poise and grit, culminating in a sudden-death playoff that tested both players’ nerves. In the end, Layman prevailed with a steady performance in the extra hole, claiming her first HJGT title of the season. Her composed approach and steady short game allowed her to maintain control throughout the weekend, earning her a comfortable seven-shot margin of victory.
