Our Why

Mario Conte is the Executive Director and Founder of the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT), which he started in 2007 fueled by his passion for junior golf. With over 30 years of experience in the junior golf space, Mario has helped thousands of kids achieve their goals of playing college golf as well as becoming well-rounded young adults.

Mario is passionate about helping young adults acquire the skills and resources that he wishes he had when he was a junior golfer. Growing up in Chicago, he was a respected and talented golfer but also focused on building essential skills that helped him succeed in his business and professional life after golf.

“I was never a next level stand out golfer and I knew that I had to be ready for life after golf as much as I didn’t want to let that dream go”, said Mario.

Mario wishes that he had a program that emphasized the importance of life skills, business skills, social skills, networking opportunities, and readiness for life after golf. “I wish there were golf organizations back in my day that focused more on being ready for what life was going to throw at me”.

That experience inspired him to create an event which delivered comprehensive training and skills that help young adults succeed in their golf career and beyond.
