Teeing Up the Future: Upcoming HJGT golf coursesĀ

Out in North Carolina, there is a major tournament being played this weekend on the beautiful golf course of Pinehurst No.2. Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Rory Mcllroy, and Wyndham Clark are just a few of the big names competing in the U.S. Open on June 13-16, 2024. This historical venue is returning with a new look since the last time the U.S. Open was played there. The PGA Tour states, ā€œThey brought back a scruffier, tawnier look, feel and playability.ā€ This is compared to the old feel of the soft green grass in the 1970’s. But, this isn’t the only major tournament that is happening shortly. At the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour, there are a multitude of different tournaments happening very close to now and there are so many delightful courses that are going to be played on. Here are some other golf courses that are on the up-and-coming tournament schedules!

Pinehurst 2

Champions Gate Golf Resort- International: Champions gate, FL

Just steps from the OMNI Orlando at Champions Gate resort is a 42,000-square-foot green. The International course is one of two Greg Norman-designed golf courses. Originally built back in 2000, there have been recent renovations to improve the playing conditions as well as a complete restoration of 18 greens. The new turf surfaces of the course allow conditions to be fast and firm to have longer drives. This also provides more difficult experiences when putting. Recently, this course was ranked number nine in the top overall ranked courses by GOLF Advisor. The tournament being played is the Champions Gate Summer Junior Open. If you are nearby and want to see how breathtaking the course is for yourself, then stop by on the days of the tournament which is June 15-16, 2024.

Champions Gate

University Club of Kentucky- Wildcat: Lexington, Kentucky

Rolling along the trees, ponds, and creeks is the Wildcat course in the University Club of Kentucky. Opening in 1992, it is a semi-private club licensed by the University of Kentucky. It also has a sister golf course known as the Big Blue Course. The Big Blue is 7,013 yards in size while the Wildcat is a bit smaller at 6,680 yards. Both are complemented by a dozen lakes which is a sight to see and also provides players a bit more of a challenging round of golf. The tournament being played is the College Prep Series at UK Wildcat which is coming up very soon. It will be played on June 15-16, 2024.Ā

Wildcat 2

Seaview Marriott Golf Resort- Pines: Galloway, NJ

Being set on the woodlands and coast of Galloway, NJ is both the Bay and Pines courses. Opening in 1929, the Pines Course gives golfers elevation changes as well as vast doglegs. Coming in at 6,800 yards, Pines presents 72 sand bunkers along with moderate sloping greens. Back in 1942, Sam ā€œSlammin’ Sammyā€ Snead had won his first of seven majors at the course and did this by hitting a 60-foot chip-in on hole 16! Maybe one of the junior golfers competing in the New Jersey Summer Junior Open will repeat history and do the same! If you want to see some exciting golf, this tournament is taking place on 15-16, 2024.
