In this nail-biting finish between Jojo Jaskulski from Washington, PA, and Nunnaphat Saangsittiphan from Bangkok, Thailand, only one could be crowned as champion.
Jaskulski was the one to stand tall and proud as she was the champion for the Girls 14-18 Division at the Pittsburgh Summer Junior Open. Jaskulski was able to go on and win in a grueling playoff match against Nunnaphat at the end of the tournament.

After the first two rounds of play, both Jaskulski and Nunnaphat had shot 161 for the tournament. To settle this tiebreaker, both had to play again in a playoff, and in the end, Jaskulski was able to pull away with an impressive and well-earned victory.
Jaskulski told us when we asked her how it felt to get the most recent win, “It felt so good and surreal to win my most recent tournament. I was down 6 strokes with four holes to go and I managed to tie for first, forcing a three-hole playoff, which I won.” Having this amazing win, it was also a great confidence booster for Jaskulski and is an experience that she won’t forget any time soon.
When Jaskulski is at the HJGT tournaments, she truly enjoys meeting girls from all over and how nice the HJGT crew is. Jaskulski said, “If I ever need help or have a question on a ruling, they’re always there. And of course, I enjoy making so many memories.” To prepare for these tournaments, Jaskulski will normally play as much golf as she can and have lessons with her coach Brent Johnson. If there is enough time, she will head to the range to hit balls and practice her short game.
In the future, Jaskulski hopes to make it to the professional level and one day play at magnificent courses such as Augusta. But, the backup plan is to become an engineer! She doesn’t have one particularly in mind just yet, but there is plenty of time to figure that out in the future as she can stay focused on making it to Augusta someday.
At the age of twelve, Jaskulski picked up the clubs and she hasn’t put them down since. This will be her first year on the high school golf team as she is an incoming freshman. She will even give the boys a run for their money since she is playing on their team due to her school not having a girl’s team. Last but not least, Jaskulski is also a first-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. She truly is a girl with many amazing talents!
