There is no better feeling than getting your first win. Henry Sokol from Villanova, PA was able to bring home his first win in his first-ever tournament!
The battle between Henry and Keqian Zhang was a close one at the beginning of the match at the Central New Jersey Junior Open. Both finished with 77 strokes after the first round. But, Henry was able to pull away in the second round and shot a 78 for the win as Keqian came in second shooting an 85 for the round.

After being asked how he enjoyed his time at the tournament, Henry stated “I enjoyed playing against kids from around the country and sleeping on a lead. It teaches you how to deal with pressure on every shot…. I didn’t play my best but it was good enough to win. It was my first Hurricane event so I didn’t know what to expect.”
Henry prepared for his first tournament with his twin brother playing a 27-hole match at his home course. All the practice that Henry put in before his first tournament certainly paid off. After a long round of golf, “whether you won or lost it teaches you how to hit shots when your arms feel like jello.” stated Henry.
When Henry gets a little older and reaches college, he wants to pursue his dream of being able to play at Princeton and then for the Masters. In his spare time when he isn’t golfing, Henry loves to watch movies and play sports with his friends. Henry said, “I am very competitive so whatever I do I am always playing for something.” With this kind of mindset, it’s easy to see why Henry was able to get the win at the tournament.
