Saint Louis Spring Kickoff

WATERLOO - The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Saint Louis Spring Kickoff at the Acorns Golf Links from May 20-21. Boys and girls traveled from around the country to participate in the 36-hole tournament. The event had five divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Girls 14-18 and Girls U13.

Boys 16-18

Saint Louis Spring Kickoff

Taking home first place in the boys 16-18 division was Haydn Robertson from Maumelle, AR. With three birdies on the weekend, Robertson brought in impressive scores of 79 for round 1 and 74 for round 2. He totaled 153 strokes, three strokes less than his previous HJGT tournament win at the 2022 Memphis Summer Junior Open. From Caseyville, IL, Parker Bruening placed as our runner up honors with four birdies and two scores of 78 for a combined 156 strokes. Ben Gelven from Saint Louis, MO placed in top three honors with a total score of 159 strokes.

Boys 14-15

Saint Louis Spring Kickoff

Rowan Banning from Leawood, KS took the lead in the boys 14-15 division. Banning had an exceptional scorecard for the weekend. With one birdie on the weekend, he brought in scores of 86 for both days. Banning finished the weekend with 172 strokes securing him his first win in an HJGT tournament. Mukt Patel from St. Louis, MO played in his first HJGT tournament this weekend and did a phenomenal job. Placing as runner up honors, Patel finished the weekend with 179 strokes. With a total score of 185 strokes, newcomer Ethan Mottert from New Melle, MO places in the top three honors.

Boys 11-13

Saint Louis Spring Kickoff

In the boys 11-13 division, John DeLuca took home the first place win in his first HJGT tournament of the year. DeLuca, from Chesterfield, MO had five birdies on the weekend and brought in scores of 79 and 76. He finished the weekend with 155 strokes. Runner up honors went to Brendan Gibson from Columbia, IL with a round 1 score of 81 and round 2 of 86, he finished with a total of 167 strokes. Gibson has been invited to play in the National Championship in December, we’re excited to see how he does. Finishing up top three honors was Liam Weller from Des Peres, MO with a combined total of 186 strokes for the weekend. Weller is currently in the top 50 players in the HJGT point rankings.

Girls 14-18

Saint Louis Spring Kickoff

Leading the girls 14-18 division is newcomer Hannah Mottert from New Melle, MO. With six birdies on the weekend, she brought in scores of 76 for round 1 and 81 for round 2. She finished the weekend with a total of 157 securing her the first place win in only her second tournament of the year. Taking home runner up honors was Avery McLaughlin from Saint Louis, MO. McLaughlin did a great job on the course this weekend bringing in scores of 82 and 81 she finished with a total of 163. With a score of 165 strokes, Savannah Thessing from Nixa, MO places in the top three honors.

Girls U13

Saint Louis Spring Kickoff

Ashtynn Zuniga played in her first HJGT tournament this weekend in the girls U13 division, she did an outstanding job on the course. Zuniga, from High Ridge, MO brought in a round 1 score of 100 and round 2 score of 103. She ended the weekend with a total of 203 strokes, winning first place. We applaud Ashtynn for her efforts and can’t wait to see how well she does in her next tournaments.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 8-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. The tour’s vision is to provide superb hospitality and make every event a memorable one. With play open to both males and females, nearly every junior golfer is eligible to participate on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. Currently the HJGT is the largest multi-day junior golf tour in the United States hosting more 2-day nationally ranked events than any other tour. The HJGT has been able to achieve this goal by running the most professional events and providing an exceptional value to all of our players and families over the last 14 years.

Based out of Orlando, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the country. In 2021, the HJGT will conduct events in Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Canada. Juniors will compete in 1 of 6 divisions which are: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys under 10, Girls 14-18, and Girls Under 13. Click here to view approximate yardages for each division. The HJGT season is based on a calendar year and players earn points throughout the season towards year end honors beginning December 31, 2021.
