DAYTONA BEACH - The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the LPGA Junior Open at the LPGA International Golf Club from May 20-21. Boys and girls traveled from around the country to participate in the 36-hole tournament. The event had five divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Girls 14-18 and Girls U13.
Boys 16-18

Newcomer to HJGT, Tianyou Wei from Lake Mary, FL led the boys 16-18 division. Wei played a great game this weekend and brought in an impressive scorecard. With nine birdies on the weekend, he scored a 65 for round 1 and 73 for round 2. Tianyou finished in first place with 138 strokes for the weekend. Taking home runner up honors from Wales, WI was Cole Ropicky. With two scores of 73 and seven birdies, Ropicky finished off the weekend with 146 strokes. With a score of 151, Sean Majewski from Longwood, FL places in the top three honors.
Boys 14-15

Zusheng Wu from Lake Mary, FL was the first place finisher in the boys 14-15 division this past weekend. With four birdies on the weekend, he put up scores of 75 for round 1 and 77 for round 2. Wu was able to finish the weekend with 152 strokes. Runner up honors went to Nicholas Lehto from Lake Nona, FL. His score for the weekend was 160 strokes, one of his best in an HJGT tournament. Peter Sirianni from Winter Park, FL took home top three honors with a score of 172 strokes.
Boys 11-13

First place in the boys 11-13 division went to Yanze Ouyang from Lake Mary, FL. This was Ouyang’s first tournament with HJGT and he did an outstanding job on the course. With 11 birdies, he brought in scores of 66 and 70 he finished off the weekend with 136 strokes. With a score of 150 strokes, Xuanheng Zhang from Lake Mary, FL took home runner up honors. Finishing up top three honors, also in his first HJGT tournament was Hu Zhecheng from Tianjin, China. Zhecheng brought in a round 1 score of 89 and round 2 score of 92 for a total of 181 strokes.
Girls 14-18

Amelia Cobb from Ormond Beach, FL has been playing with HJGT since 2018, this past weekend she was the first place finisher for the girls 14-18 division making it her 5th first place win. With five birdies on the weekend, she put up scores of 71 and 74. Cobb was able to secure her win in just 145 strokes. Runzhi Pang from Lake Mary, FL, Sabrina Smith from Orlando, FL and Ava Zhang from Lake Mary, FL finished off the weekend in a three way tie for runner up honors. Pang, with nine birdies put up scores of 76 and 73. Smith, with five birdies put up scores of 78 and 71 and Zhang, with four birdies put up scores of 76 and 73. All girls ended the weekend with 149 strokes.
Girls U13

To finish off a great weekend, Lily Chiang from Jacksonville, FL took home the champion title in the girls U13 division. With a round 1 score of 70 and round 2 score of 78, she secured her win with 148 strokes. This was Chiang’s first HJGT tournament and she is now ranked in the top 30 of the HJGT point rankings. Runner up honors went to Mary Jane Skelin from Orlando, FL. Also playing in her first HJGT tournament, Skelin did a fantastic job this weekend and put up scores of 87 and 81 for a total of 168 strokes.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 8-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. The tour’s vision is to provide superb hospitality and make every event a memorable one. With play open to both males and females, nearly every junior golfer is eligible to participate on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. Currently the HJGT is the largest multi-day junior golf tour in the United States hosting more 2-day nationally ranked events than any other tour. The HJGT has been able to achieve this goal by running the most professional events and providing an exceptional value to all of our players and families over the last 14 years.
Based out of Orlando, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the country. In 2021, the HJGT will conduct events in Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Canada.
