Kentucky Junior Open

From April 23rd-24th, 2022, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Kentucky Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of five divisions that included the Boys 16-18 Division, Boys 14-15 Division, Boys 11-13 Division, Girls 14-18 Division, and Girls Under 13 Divison.

Boys 16-18

Kentucky Junior Open

Joshua Weiner from Macedonia, OH was the first-place finisher this weekend. Weiner brought in scores of 76 and 77 for a combined total of 153 for the weekend. Garrett Wellman from Frankfort, KY was the runner-up this weekend with scores of 78 and 77 for a combined total of 155. Michael Okeefe from Chicago, IL finished with top three honors with scores of 74 and 83 for a weekend total of 157.

Harrison Zipfel from University City, MO was the first-place finisher this weekend. Zipfel brought in scores of 75 and 73 for a combined total of 148 for the weekend. Carter Denton from Frankfort, KY was the runner-up this weekend with scores of 82 and 81 for a combined total of 163. Nick Viela from Washington, MO finished with top three honors with scores of 82 and 82 for a weekend total of 164.

Lyoto Bellon from Saint Louis, MO was the first-place finisher this weekend. Bellon brought in scores of 76 and 77 for a combined total of 153 for the weekend. Grayson Hayden from Louisville, KY was the runner-up this weekend with scores of 80 and 76 for a combined total of 156. Parker Andersen from New Melle, MO, and Parker Geldhof from Lexington, KY finished with top three honors with scores of 84 and 84, and 84 and 84, respectively for a weekend total of 168.

Payton Donnelly from Curtice, OH, Channing Hagen from Lexington, KY, and Destynie Sheridan from Fort Branch, IN tied for the runner-up this weekend with scores of 77 and 83, 80 and 80, and 86 and 74, respectively, for a combined total of 160.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 8-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. The tour’s vision is to provide superb hospitality and make every event a memorable one. With play open to both males and females, nearly every junior golfer is eligible to participate on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. Currently the HJGT is the largest multi-day junior golf tour in the United States hosting more 2-day nationally ranked events than any other tour. The HJGT has been able to achieve this goal by running the most professional events and providing an exceptional value to all of our players and families over the last 14 years.

Based out of Orlando, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the country. In 2021, the HJGT will conduct events in Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Canada. Juniors will compete in 1 of 6 divisions which are: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys under 10, Girls 14-18, and Girls Under 13. Click here to view approximate yardages for each division. The HJGT season is based on a calendar year and players earn points throughout the season towards year end honors beginning December 31, 2021.
