Cog Hill Junior Championship

On Saturday, July 21 – Sunday, July 22, 2018, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the Cog Hill Junior Championship in Lemont, Illinois. The two-day, thirty-six-hole tournament that took place on the Cog Hill Golf & Country Club – Course 1, consisted of players from all six of our divisions including the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division, Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division, Ernie Els Boys 11-13 Division, Bryson DeChambeau Boys U10 Division, Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division, and the Justin Rose Girls U13 Division.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Cog Hill Junior Championship

Burke Pitz of Des Moines, Iowa claimed the first-place title in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division when he finished -5. He led his playing field with the most birdies (7), the lowest Par-3 average (2.8), and the lowest scoring average (68.5). Second-place finisher was Mark Noonan of Vernon Hills, Illinois who completed the two rounds E. Jace Arko of Cornelius, North Carolina placed third with 149 strokes to finish at +7 at the end of the thirty-six holes.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Cog Hill Junior Championship

In the Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division, Jack Roemer of Bettendorf, Iowa consecutively shot 71 strokes to finish E on the weekend. He led his playing field with the lowest scoring average at 71. As for second-place, there was a two-way tie as Adam Klimala (Glen Ellyn, IL) and Colin Jasper (Lake Forest) both made 155 strokes for a +13 finish. Roemer and Klimala tied for the most birdies (6), the lowest Par-3 average (3.1), and the longest birdie or better streak (2) in their division.

Ernie Els 11-13

Cog Hill Junior Championship

It was Kevin Wesolowski of Hickory Hills, Illinois that was victorious in the Ernie Els Boys 11-13 Division, finishing the two-day tournament at +15. He led his playing field with the most birdies (3), the lowest Par-3 average (3.2), and the lowest scoring average (78.5). Second-place finisher was Jack Mulligan of Burr Ridge, Illinois who made 160 strokes to finish at +18. Henry Reiland of Chicago, Illinois claimed the third-place spot after finishing the thirty-six holes at +19.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Cog Hill Junior Championship

In the Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division, it was Kiah Parrott of Kokomo, Indiana who walked away with the trophy after completing the thirty-six holes at +7. She led her playing field with the most birdies (5), the longest birdie or better streak (2), and the lowest scoring average (74.5). Second-place finisher was Lilly Gentzkow of Wilmette, Illinois, who made 155 strokes to complete the two rounds at +13. Alyssa Trebat of Elgin placed third after she made 167 strokes to result in a +25 finish.

Justin Rose Girls U13

Cog Hill Junior Championship

Bella Anderson of Columbus, Ohio was victorious in the Justin Rose Girls U13 Division after making 185 strokes for a +43 finish. She led her playing field with the lowest Par-3 average (3.9) and the lowest scoring average (92.5). Second-place finisher was Elle Astete of Hoffman Estates, Illinois who shot 200 strokes that resulted in her finish of +58.

Boys 10 Under

Cog Hill Junior Championship

Sam Carraher of Crown Point, Indiana won the title in the Bryson DeChambeau Boys U10 Division as he completed the tournament at +17. He led his playing field with the lowest Par-3 average (3) and the lowest scoring average (79.5). Joseph Scott of Lemont, Illinois, secured the second place spot after making 161 strokes to finish the weekend at +19. Carraher and Scott led their playing field with the most birdies as they each made 2. Third-place finisher was Liam Lodding of Huntley, Illinois whose 176 resulted in a +34 finish through the thirty-six holes.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
