CANTON - The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Bridgemill Junior Open at the Bridge Mill Athletic Club from July 15-16. Boys and girls traveled from all over the country to participate in the 36-hole tournament. The event had four divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Girls 14-18 and Girls U13.
Boys 16-18

In the boys 16-18 division, Todd Marovich from Canton, GA took home the first place win after securing a playoff win against Keegan Farmer. Marovich finished the weekend with a round 1 score of 73 and round 2 score of 74 ending the weekend with a score of 147. This was his first win and lowest score of 2023. Keegan Farmer from Greenwood, SC took home the runner up honors with a round 1 score of 72 and 75 for round 2 totaling 147 strokes. Matthew Calhoun from Canton, GA finishes up in the top three honors with a total 149 strokes, his best HJGT tournament score.
Boys 14-15

Ryan Gallagher from Canton, GA placed first in the boys 14-15 division. He secured his victory after a playoff against Thaxton Cheyne. Ryan is new to the HJGT and participated in his first event this past weekend. With eight birdies on the weekend, he had scores of 78 and 73 for a final score of 151. Thaxton Cheyne from Canton, GA finished the weekend with a scorecard of 151 strokes. In round 1 he brought in a score of 69 and an 82 in round 2. Also playing in his first tournament this past weekend, Peter Casey from Atlanta, GA finishes up the top three honors with a total of 165 strokes.
Boys 11-13
Girls 14-18

In the girls 14-18 division, Tatum Thompson from Marietta, GA was crowned champion after a playoff against Macie Stefano. Thompson is a longtime HJGT player with over 20 tournaments under her belt and over half resulting in a Top 10 finish. She finished the weekend with scores of 84 and 85 for a total of 169. Macie Stefano from Woodstock, GA finished the weekend with a round 1 score of 87 and 82 for round 2 totaling 169. Alexa Slaton from Marietta, GA places in the top three honors with a final score of 185.
Girls U13

To finish off a great weekend, McKenzie Morris from Canton, GA took home the first place win in the girls under 13 division. This was her second event of the year and her first win. With three birdies on the weekend, she had scores of 79 and 77 totaling 156 strokes. Newcomer to the HJGT, Sophie Dinh from Duluth, GA placed as our runner up honors on the weekend. Her scores of 86 and 87 gave her a total of 173. Finishing up top three honors was Elynn Lan from Cumming, GA with scores of 85 and 85 for a final score of 180 strokes.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 8-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. The tour’s vision is to provide superb hospitality and make every event a memorable one. With play open to both males and females, nearly every junior golfer is eligible to participate on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. Currently the HJGT is the largest multi-day junior golf tour in the United States hosting more 2-day nationally ranked events than any other tour. The HJGT has been able to achieve this goal by running the most professional events and providing an exceptional value to all of our players and families over the last 14 years.
Based out of Orlando, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the country. In 2021, the HJGT will conduct events in Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Canada. Juniors will compete in 1 of 6 divisions which are: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys under 10, Girls 14-18, and Girls Under 13. Click here to view approximate yardages for each division.
