From March 23-24, 2024, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the 2024 World Golf Village Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of six divisions that included the Boys 16-18 Division, Boys 14-15 Division, Boys 11-13 Division, Boys U10 Division, Girls 14-18 Division and Girls U13 Division.
Owen Jessop from Westhampton Beach, NY took first place in his division with a very smooth 72 and 74 for a grand total of 146 strokes. Coming close in second was the runner-up, Patrick Delaney from Marietta, GA. Delaney collected a 75 and 72 for a total of 147 strokes. And in third was Mac Buckley from Denver, CO with a sweet 73 and 76 – coming in at 149 strokes.
In first place, and the only participant, was Nico Vasto from Jacksonville, FL. Vasto completed the course with an 85 and 83 for a total of 168 strokes.
Delaney Sillaway from Longwood, FL was our first place finisher for the girls 14-18 division. With an almost equal 75-76, she came on top with 151 strokes. Coming hot in second was Lily Martin from Inlet Beach, FL with 77 and 79 hits for a total of 156 strokes. In third was Claire Yu from Greenwich, CT with a nice 84-76. She finished with 160 strokes.
For the girls under 13 division, Jessica Stine from Tampa, FL stole first with a near-equal 83 and 82 for a total of 165 strokes. The runner-up, Abby Le-Nguyen from Toronto, Canada, finished with 89-83 – a great total of 172 strokes. Finally, in third, came Violet Weber from St. Augustine, FL. She finished with 87 and 90 for a total of 177 strokes.
