From January 27-28, 2024, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the Tampa Bay Winter Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format and with a field of six divisions, including Boys 16-18 Division, Boys 14-15 Division, Boys 11-13 Division, Boys U10 Division, Girls 14-18 Division and Girls U13 Division.
Dane Mohap from Nazareth, PA was the first-place finisher of the Boys 16-18 Division. Mohap scored 77 in both rounds, giving him a combined total of 154 strokes. Carter Boynton from Wesley Chapel, FL, and Yunho Jo from Namyangju-si, Republic of Korea tied for runner up. Both scored 156 strokes, with Boynton shooting 77 and 79, while Jo shot 76 and 80.
Seunghwa Baek from Cheonan-si, Republic of Korea was the first-place finisher of the Tampa Bay Winter Junior Open. Baek scored 76 in the first round and shot 3-under par in round two with 69, giving him a combined total of 145 strokes. Brayden Pedersen from Alachua, FL was the runner up. Pedersen shot 90 and 94, giving him a total of 184 strokes to finish the weekend.
Charles Peng from Land O’ Lakes, FL was the first-place finisher of the Boys 11-13 Division. Peng scored 88 and 90, giving him a combined total of 178 strokes.
Travis Reaves from Lake Mary, FL was the first-place finisher of the Boys U10 Division. Reaves scored 95 and 90, giving him a combined total of 185 strokes to finish the weekend.
Gwendolyn Yarnall from East Aurora, NY was the first-place finisher of the Girls 14-18 Division. Yarnall shot 80 and 82, giving her a combined total of 162 strokes. Willda Kuang from Lakewood Ranch, FL was the runner up. Kuang scored 82 and 81, finishing the weekend just one point behind the leader with 163 strokes. Rounding out the top three honors was Tiffanie Tran from Bradenton, FL. Tran scored 79 and 88, giving her a combined total of 167 strokes.
Amelia Lecavalier from Tampa, FL was the first-place finisher of the Girls U13 Division. Lecavalier scored an 89 in both rounds, giving her a combined total of 178 strokes to finish the weekend.
