GAINESVILLE – The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the Summer College Prep Series at UF at the Mark Bostick Golf Course on June 25. Boys and girls traveled from all over the world to participate in the 18-hole tournament. The event had five divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10 and Girls 14-18.

Griffin Latimer from Canton, GA did a fantastic job on the course this weekend and secured the first place win in the boys 16-18 division. With three birdies on the weekend, he finished the tournament with a final score of 71 strokes. This was his first win of the year and he is in fifth place for the HJGT point rankings. The runner up honors went to Jack Cole from Boca Raton, FL. This was Jack’s first HJGT tournament of the year, with three birdies he brought in a weekend total of 73 strokes. In a four way tie for the top three honors was Ben Davis from Gainesville, FL, Nutthachai Khamkhokgruad from Bangkok, Thailand, Minseok Kim from Orlando, FL and Jairen Stroud Iuka, IL. All four players did a fantastic job on the course and brought in an impressive score of 74 strokes for the weekend.

In the boys 14-15 division, Conor Whalen from Trinity, FL was our first place finisher. With one eagle and two birdies on the weekend, he had a weekend total of an even 70 strokes. This was Whalen’s third tournament of the year and his first win. The runner up honors went to Ryo Murata from Nagano, Japan. Murata had three birdies on the weekend and finished the tournament with a total of 71 strokes. Finishing up the top three honors was Miken Ashmore from Cabot, AR playing in his first HJGT tournament. He finished the tournament with a total of 74 strokes.

In the boys 11-13 division, Dane Mohap from Nazareth, PA was our champion. Mohap has been playing with the HJGT since March of 2023 and has participated in five tournaments. Dane has won first place in all his tournaments. This weekend he was able to take the win with a total of 75 strokes. He holds the first place spot for HJGT point rankings.

Hunter Williams from St. Augustine, FL placed first in the boys under 10 division this past weekend. Williams did a fantastic job on the course to secure his second win of the year. With two birdies on the weekend, he had a total score of 76 strokes. With a final score of 82 strokes for the weekend, Banks McAllister from Jacksonville, FL takes home the runner up honors. McAllister is currently in the Top 15 of HJGT point rankings.

To finish off a great tournament, newcomer to the HJGT, Cambree Hodge from Flemming Island, FL was the first place finisher in the girls 14-18 division. This was Hodge’s first HJGT tournament, she did a great job on the course this past weekend. With four birdies, she finished the weekend with a total of 73 strokes. Cambree will play again at the Southeast Regional Invitational in August. The runner up honors went to Stella Moritz from Ponte Vedra, FL. This was Stella’s first HJGT tournament, she finished the weekend with a total of 76 strokes. In a three way tie for the top three honors was Mckinley Holding from Reunion, FL, Patricia Patterson from Tallahassee, FL and Yaya Sadamoto from Wesley Chapel, FL. All three players were able to bring in an impressive score of 77 strokes.
