2022 Summer College Prep Series at NC State

From June 11-12, 2022, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Summer College Prep Series at NC State. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of six division that included the Boys 16-18 Division, Boys 14-15 Division, Boys 11-13 Division, Boys Under 10 Division, Girls 14-18 Division, and Girls Under 13 Division.

William Mitchell from Cary, North Carolina was the first-place finisher this weekend. Mitchell brought in scores of 71 and 73 for a combined total of 144 for the weekend. James Perry from Lawrenceville, Georgia was the runner-up this weekend with scores of 76 and 69 for a combined total of 145. Ryan Masterton from Concord, North Carolina finished the top three honors withs cores of 73 and 74 for a weekend total of 147.

Leading the boys 14-15 division was long time HJGT player, Braden Plaisted from Celebration, FL. Participating in more than 15 tournaments, Plaisted has 10 Top 10 finishes under his belt. This past weekend, he was able to secure his first place win with just 154 strokes. Playing in his first HJGT tournament and bringing home the runner up honors was Zhanyang Lu from Durham, NC. With scores of 86 for round 1 and 82 for round 2, he finished the weekend with a total of 168. Also playing in his first ever HJGT tournament, Brady Booth from Garner, NC places in the top three honors. His score for the weekend was 172 strokes.

In the boys 11-13 division, Andrew Blanchette from Davidson, NC took home the championship title. With six birdies on the weekend, he put up scores of 85 and 80 totaling 165 strokes. This is one of Blanchette’s lowest HJGT tournament scores as well as his sixth Top 2 win. The runner up honors went to Nicholas Rodriguez from Miami, FL. With scores of 87 and 79, he totaled 166 strokes. Finishing up top three honors, with a total score of 244, was Jiaqi “Jackie” He from Chapel Hill, NC.

girls 14-18
Elizabeth Pritchard from Charlotte, NC participated in her first HJGT tournament this past weekend. Pritchard brought in an exceptional scorecard, taking the lead in the girls 14-18 division. With a round 1 score of 82 and 83 for round 2, she took home the win with only 165 strokes. The runner up honors went to Paisley Freda from Cornelius, NC. Freda put up scores of 96 and 86 totaling 182 strokes. She has been playing with the HJGT since 2020 and currently is within the Top 50 for HJGT point rankings. Alexis Blanchette from Davidson, NC places in the top three honors with a total of 184 strokes for the weekend.

In the girls under 13 division, Calie Freda from Cornelius, NC was crowned the division champion. She did a great job this weekend and brought in an exceptional scorecard. Her scores of 110 and 101 gave her a total of 211 strokes. This was Freda’s third win for 2023.
