O’FALLON – The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the St. Louis Summer Junior Open at the Falls Golf Club from June 24-25. Boys and girls traveled from all over the country to participate in the 36-hole tournament. The event had five divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Girls 14-18 and Girls U13.

Long time HJGT player Harrison Zipfel from University City, MO was the first place finisher in the boys 16-18 division this past weekend. Zipfel has been playing with HJGT since 2019 and has participated in over 30 tournaments with over half of them resulting in a Top 10 finish. Harrison was able to secure his win with one eagle and scores of 69 and 68 totaling 137 strokes. The runner up honors went to Lawson Barks from Poplar Bluff, MO. With eight birdies on the weekend he brought in scores of 68 and 76. He finished the weekend with a total of 144 strokes. This was his second tournament of 2023 and his first Top 3 finish. Jett Maasen from Linn, MO finishes up the top three honors with a total score of 148.

In the boys 14-15 division, Dawson Schnieders from Jefferson City, MO finished the weekend as our champion. This was Schnieders second tournament of the year and his first win. He had scores of 76 and 72 totaling 148 strokes for the weekend. Landon Barks played in his first HJGT tournament this past weekend and took home the runner up honors. Barks, from Poplar Bluff, MO brought in socres of 79 and 74 to finish off with 153 strokes. Parker Andersen from New Melle, MO finishes up the top three honors with a score of 154 strokes for the weekend.

In the boys 11-13 division, Ivan Kennedy from OFallon, MO was the first place finisher. Kennedy did an outstanding job on the course this past weekend. This was Ivan’s third tournament of the year and his second win. He finished the weekend with a round 1 score of 76 and 79 in round 2 totaling 155 strokes.With a final score of 160, Dylan Press took home the runner up honors. Press had four birdies on the weekend and a total score of 160 strokes. Liam Weller from Des Peres, MO finishes up the top three honors with a total of 161 strokes. Liam is currently in the Top 30 of HJGT point rankings.

Pies finished the weekend with a score of 151 strokes. She has been playing with the HJGT since 2021, this was her fifth top 10 finish. The runner up honors went to KC Lenox from Saint Peters, MO. With a score of 76 for both days she finished the weekend with a score of 152. This was her second tournament of the year and first Top 3 finish. In her first HJGT tournament, Brooke Inchiostro from Foristell, MO finishes up the top three honors with a weekend score of 154 strokes.

To finish off a great weekend, Peyton Bundrant from Overland Park, KY was crowned champion of the girls under 13 division. Bundrant brought in scores of 92 and 86, she secured the win with 178 strokes. The runner up honors went to Emilia Brown from Saint Albans, MO with a total of 197 strokes. Both players played in their first HJGT tournament this past weekend and we applaud their efforts and can’t wait to see how they continue to do on tour.
