From January 6-7, 2024, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the South Florida Kickoff at Woodmont. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of five divisions that included the Boys 16-18 Division, Boys 14-15 Division, Boys 11-13 Division, Boys U10 Division and Girls 14-18 Division.
Jacob Vazquez from Palm Harbor, FL was the first place finisher for the weekend after winning in the playoff against Preston Devieux. Vazquez and Preston Devieux from Mountainside, NJ tied as first-place finishers of the South Florida Kickoff at Woodmont. Both had a total of 151 strokes, with Vazquez shooting an 81 and 70, and Devieux shot a 77 and 74. Carter Brooks from Coral Springs, FL and Sergio Gonzalez from Weston, FL tied for third place honors. Brooks shot a 72 and 80, while Gonzalez scored a 76 in both rounds, earning them both a combined total of 152 strokes.
Lance Zhang from Miami, FL was the first-place finisher of the Boys 14-15 Division. Zhang finished with scores of 84 and 82 for a total of 166 strokes. John Marzano from Boca Raton, FL finished in second place with scores of 79 and 88, giving him a total of 167 strokes. Rounding out the top three honors was Matteo Bloom from Miami, FL. Bloom finished with an 86 in both rounds, giving him a combined total of 172 strokes.
Charles Sundermeier from Lake Worth, FL was the first-place finisher of the Boys 11-13 Division. Sundermeier finished with scores of 80 and 81, giving him a combined total of 161 strokes. Rounding out the division was Grady Albertson from Stuart, Fl. Albertson finished with scores of 88 and 93 to give him a total of 181 strokes.
Tomas Balakrishnan from Chester, United Kingdom was the first-place finisher of the Boys U10 Division. Balakrishnan finished the weekend with scores of 80 and 82, giving him a combined total of 162 strokes.
Ava Koury from Parkland, FL was the first-place finisher of the Girls 14-18 Division. Koury finished the weekend with scores of 125 and 104, giving her a combined total of 229 strokes.
