From February 24-25, 2024, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the Palm Beach County Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format and with a field of six divisions, including the Boys 16-18 Division, Boys 14-15 Division, Boys 11-13 Division, Boys U10 Division, Girls 14-18 Division and Girls U13 Division.
Malaquias Vargas from Tela, Honduras was the first-place finisher of the Boys 16-18 Division. Vargas scored 79 and 72, giving him a combined total of 151 strokes. AJ Colonna from Barrington, RI was the runner up. Just one point behind the lead, Colonna shot 76 in both rounds to finish with 152 strokes. Charlie Metz from Bloomfield Hills, MI, Alex Morales from Delray Beach, FL, and Brady Pill from Westbrook, CT made up a three-way tie for third-place honors with 154 strokes. Metz scored 80 and 74, with Morales shooting 82 and 72 while Pill shot 80 and 74.
Kerrington Rolle from Bahamas, Bahamas was the first-place finisher of the Boys 14-15 Division. Rolle scored 79 and 86, giving him a combined total of 165 strokes. Julio Rodas-Rhim from New York, NY and Jack Rose from Palm City, FL were tied for runner up, just one point behind the lead. Both scored 166 strokes, with Rodas-Rhim shooting 86 and 80, while Rose shot 81 and 85.
Alain Messer from Zurich, Switzerland was the first-place finisher of the Boys 11-13 Division after winning a tiebreaker shootout against Jack McCue from Bay Harbor Islands, FL. Both scored 159 strokes, with Messer shooting 80 and 79 while McCue shot 77 and 82. Brady Dopico from West Palm Beach, FL rounded out the top three honors. Dopico scored 83 and 79, giving him a total of 162 strokes to finish the weekend.
Brian Kelley from Port St. Lucie, FL was the first-place finisher of the Boys U10 Division. Kelley scored 82 and 81, giving him a combined total of 163 strokes. Asher Tamaroff from West Palm Beach, FL was the runner up. Tamaroff shot 114 and 110, finishing the weekend with 224 strokes.
Amelie Zalsman from St. Petersburg, FL was the first-place finisher of the Palm Beach County Junior Open. Zalsman scored 71 and 70, giving her a combined total of 3-under par, 141 strokes. Roisin Scanlon from Rushden, United Kingdom was the runner up. Scanlon shot 74 and 72, finishing with 146 strokes. Rounding out the top three honors was Abigail Sheldon from Boca Raton, FL. Sheldon scored 79 and 72, giving her a combined total of 151 strokes.
Myla Kumar from Pompano Beach, FL was the first-place finisher of the Girls U13 Division. Kumar scored 88 and 86, giving her a combined total of 174 strokes. Jasmine Lazzara from West Palm Beach, FL was the runner up. Lazzara shot 104 and 91, finishing the weekend with 195 strokes. Rounding out the scoreboard was Chloe Rounce from Nassau, Bahamas. Rounce scored 96 and 102, giving her a total of 198 strokes.
