CLAYTON, N.C. — The youngest competitors at the 54-Hole Raleigh Junior Open faced a demanding test at The Neuse Golf Club, a course known for its narrow sightlines, water-lined holes, and the requirement for disciplined decision-making.
Jonas Hill of Virginia Beach completed the championship at 76-over-par 292, posting rounds of 98-99-95 to secure the Boys 10–11 title. Over three consecutive days, Hill navigated a layout that challenges even experienced players, demonstrating resilience in a full 54-hole format.
The Neuse demands positioning off the tee and controlled approaches into guarded greens. For the 10–11 division, completing three rounds on such a layout builds competitive stamina and reinforces course-management fundamentals early in development.
The 54-hole structure remains central to the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour model. It mirrors higher-level tournament expectations and teaches young players how to manage momentum across multiple days.
At The Neuse Golf Club, the Raleigh Junior Open provided a true championship environment. Over three rounds, perseverance defined the week — and Jonas Hill completed the full test to earn the division title.

Lanier Islands Junior Open at Legacy
Learn More
The Boys 10–11 division at the Lanier Islands Junior Open highlighted just how much composure and patience Legacy on Lanier Golf Club demands—even from the youngest competitors. This is not a course that allows juniors to rely on strength or instinct alone. It requires positioning, smart misses, and an understanding of when to play conservatively.
Maverick Moretti separated himself early and never relinquished control. His opening-round 77 set the tone and established a cushion that proved critical as the course tightened on day two. The second round was tougher, with firmer greens and added pressure, but Moretti managed the layout well enough to close with an 82 and secure the division title at +15. The performance reflected maturity beyond his age, particularly in how he navigated trouble and avoided the big numbers that Legacy readily exposes.
From an event perspective, this division was a strong example of why the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour places young players on championship-caliber venues. Legacy on Lanier challenges fundamentals without overwhelming development. For the Boys 10–11 field, the weekend wasn’t just about winning—it was about learning how to play a demanding golf course under tournament conditions, manage adversity, and build habits that will carry forward as competition levels increase within HJGT.

Myrtle Beach Winter Junior Open
Learn More
PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. — The Myrtle Beach Winter Junior Open continued to showcase the quiet difficulty of Lowcountry golf as the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the Boys 10–11 division at The Founders Club at Pawleys Island, a venue that tests fundamentals, patience, and composure regardless of age.
The Founders Club presents a subtle but demanding challenge. Tree-lined fairways narrow landing areas and require commitment off the tee, while gentle doglegs and strategic bunkering reward thoughtful positioning rather than power. Approach shots into well-guarded greens demand accurate distance control, and missed targets often leave difficult recovery shots from tight lies or awkward angles. For younger players, the course quickly becomes a lesson in managing the golf course one shot at a time.
Throughout the weekend, the Boys 10–11 field experienced how quickly small mistakes can compound on a layout that rarely offers easy scoring opportunities. Pars carried significant value, and maintaining focus proved just as important as execution. The Founders Club consistently asked players to slow the game down, accept conservative targets, and stay emotionally steady through challenging stretches.
Navigating that test most effectively was Cole Kreutzer of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, who finished atop the division at +35. Kreutzer showed persistence and resilience across two rounds, staying committed to his game plan and managing the course’s steady pressure. Close behind, Blake Vlahakis of Ashland, Virginia battled through the same demanding conditions, underscoring the grind required at this venue.
By hosting the Myrtle Beach Winter Junior Open at The Founders Club at Pawleys Island, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour once again delivered a developmental environment designed to prepare young players for the realities of competitive golf. The course served as a true proving ground for the Boys 10–11 division—reinforcing fundamentals, patience, and mental toughness that will pay dividends as these players continue to grow within the game.
