Dallas Spring Junior Open at Watters Creek

Watters Creek - The Traditions Course
The Boys 16-18 division at the Dallas Spring Junior Open turned into a survival test at Watters Creek, and Lucas McDonald handled it better than anyone else in the field. On a weekend where the course clearly pushed scores upward, McDonald backed up an opening 80 with a 76 to finish at 12-over par and claim the title by two shots. That winning formula was simple but effective: stay composed, avoid the blow-up stretches, and manage the course better than the rest of the field. Alex Imgrund was the only player to really stay within range, finishing runner-up at 14-over after posting rounds of 79 and 79. Behind them, John Carter Tafner took third at 19-over, while the tie for fourth at 21-over showed just how demanding the course was across two days. Watters Creek did what a good tournament venue is supposed to do—it forced players to earn everything. This was not about who could go make a bunch of birdies. It was about who could stay mentally sharp, limit mistakes, and keep the round together when scoring got tough. McDonald did that best, and his second-round 76 ended up being the low closing round among the leaders, which is usually where tournaments are won. For the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour, this division reflected the value of putting players on courses that expose weaknesses and reward maturity. The Dallas Spring Junior Open gave the Boys 16-18 field a real challenge, and Lucas McDonald’s steady finish made him a deserving champion.

Laurel Hill Junior Open

Laurel Hill Golf Club
The Boys 16-18 division at the Laurel Hill Junior Open turned into a steady test of control and composure at Laurel Hill Golf Club, and Ty Swann handled it best. Swann opened with a solid 73 and followed with a 77 to finish at 8-over par, giving him a comfortable eight-shot victory over the field. On a course that clearly required patience and disciplined course management, Swann’s opening round proved to be the foundation of the win. Michael Dillow finished runner-up at 16-over after posting rounds of 77 and 81, while Perry Robey claimed third at 17-over, edging just ahead of Matthew Bernardo who finished fourth at 18-over. The middle of the leaderboard remained tightly packed, but no one was able to close the gap created by Swann’s early control of the tournament. Laurel Hill Golf Club did what a strong tournament venue should do—it forced players to stay mentally engaged and avoid costly mistakes. Scores across the field reflected a course that demanded smart decision-making rather than aggressive play. Players who managed their round effectively were the ones who remained near the top of the leaderboard, while those who struggled to control the golf course quickly fell behind. For the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour, the Laurel Hill Junior Open delivered another weekend of meaningful competition. With a full field and a demanding venue, the Boys 16-18 division showed exactly how strong course setups can highlight the players who are able to maintain consistency under pressure. Ty Swann’s two-round performance proved to be the difference and earned him the championship at Laurel Hill.

Philadelphia Spring Kickoff at Jeffersonville
Learn More
Jeffersonville Golf Club
The Boys 16-18 division at the Philadelphia Spring Kickoff delivered a deep, competitive field at Jeffersonville Golf Club, and Declan Conner emerged as the most consistent player over two rounds. Conner backed up an opening 76 with a strong closing 74 to finish at 10-over par and secure a four-shot victory. What separated Conner was control late. On a course where scoring required patience and discipline, his second-round 74 stood out as one of the better rounds among the leaders and allowed him to create distance from the field. Logan Cassidy finished runner-up at 14-over with steady rounds of 77 and 77, while Bryce Ciochetto and Kellen Toussaint shared third at 16-over, both staying in contention but unable to make a final push. This division had depth. The leaderboard was packed, and movement was constant, especially in the middle positions. Players like Jackson Streett, who posted a 73 in the final round—the low round of the division—showed how much the course could reward a strong finish. But the difference came down to avoiding mistakes across both days, and Conner did that better than anyone. Jeffersonville Golf Club created a proper competitive environment. It required players to stay focused, manage their game, and finish rounds without giving shots away. That is what defined this division. The players who stayed disciplined held their ground, while those who slipped fell quickly in a field this large. For the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour, this is exactly what a high-quality regional event should look like. A full leaderboard, meaningful competition, and a course that forces players to earn their position. Declan Conner’s two-round performance checked all of those boxes and made him a deserving champion at the Philadelphia Spring Kickoff.

Union Hills Country Club
PHOENIX, Ariz. — The Boys 16–18 division at the Spring Break Desert Junior Open delivered one of the most dramatic finishes of the weekend, as Levi McDowell captured the title in a playoff at Union Hills Country Club. McDowell finished regulation tied with Hudson Arnold at 6-over 150 before prevailing in the playoff to secure the championship. The victory was powered by one of the strongest final rounds in the division. After opening with an 80, McDowell surged on Sunday with a 2-under 70, the lowest round among the top contenders and one of the best scores posted during the tournament. Arnold forced the playoff after posting rounds of 73 and 77 to match McDowell at the top of the leaderboard. Despite the strong opening round, Arnold was unable to hold off McDowell’s late charge as the tournament moved to extra holes. Caiden Rhine finished just one shot back in third place at 7-over 151 after rounds of 75 and 76, while Jack Johnson placed fourth at 8-over 152 with consistent rounds of 76 and 76. Yandel Parra rounded out the top five at 10-over 154. The tightly packed leaderboard highlighted how demanding Union Hills Country Club played throughout the weekend. Small mistakes were magnified and scoring opportunities were limited, keeping the championship race close until the final putt. Bryce Thompson finished sixth at 11-over 155, Russell Yeh placed seventh at 13-over 157, and Isaac Cota, Ryan Lightfoot, and Andrew Mason Ostermyer tied for eighth at 15-over 159. In the end, the championship came down to composure under pressure. McDowell’s closing 70 gave him the momentum entering the playoff, and he carried that confidence into extra holes to secure the Boys 16–18 title and one of the most exciting finishes of the Spring Break Desert Junior Open.
