Learn More
FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. — The Boys 16–18 division delivered a tight battle along the marsh-lined fairways of Ocean Creek, where Winslow Robinson of Traverse City, Michigan, claimed the title at +4 after back-to-back rounds of 73. Robinson’s consistency proved to be the separating factor on a course where swirling coastal winds made scoring anything but comfortable.
Just one stroke behind was Hilton Head Island’s Alex Hunter, who carded rounds of 73–74 to finish at +5, staying within striking distance all weekend but unable to overtake Robinson down the stretch. Joey Looby of Wyoming surged into third at +9, closing with a confident 74 after a slower start on Saturday.
Rounding out the top tier were Gavin Baker at +10, who posted a strong 74 of his own on Sunday, and Slovakia’s Marek Majercak, whose opening-round 72 was one of the weekend’s best but a tough second day dropped him to +13.
The coastal layout rewarded precision and patience, and Robinson’s ability to avoid big mistakes across 36 holes earned him a well-deserved HJGT victory.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The Boys 16–18 division at the Phoenix Junior Open showcased sharp shot-making, clutch closing stretches, and a champion who refused to blink. Luke Haarer of Middlebury, Indiana, claimed the title at even par, firing a confident 1-under 71 on Sunday to seal the win.
Haarer’s steady play across both days at Orange Tree proved decisive. After opening with a 73, he tightened his approach game in Round 2, converting key par saves and capitalizing on the scorable par-5s to pull away from a crowded leaderboard.
A pair of players shared second at +5. Arizona’s Kyler Besick stayed in the hunt with rounds of 73–76, while Canada’s Owen Borggard made the biggest Sunday charge among the chasers, posting 71—one of the division’s best closing rounds—to surge into a tie for runner-up.
Phoenix’s Bryan Tarr finished fourth at +8, and local standout Owen Wackman completed the top five at +9 after battling tough winds and firmer greens during Sunday’s round.
Haarer’s composed finish and precision under pressure highlighted the tournament’s premier division and secured him a well-earned HJGT victory in the desert.

Huntsville Junior Open
Learn More
SYLACAUGA, Ala. — The Boys 16–18 field delivered one of the most competitive battles of the weekend at the Huntsville Junior Open, where Griffin Barnett of Carrollton, Georgia, captured the title at 1-under par, becoming the only player in the division to finish in red figures.
Barnett closed with an even-par round to secure the victory, pairing disciplined course management with steady ball-striking on a Farmlinks layout that demanded precision from tee to green. His poise under pressure proved the difference as he held off a charging Riley Gudgeon of Carrollton, Texas, who fired a sharp 2-under final round to finish at +1, just two shots back.
A pair of players shared third at +2: Christian Riekhof of Starkville, Mississippi, who posted a strong 1-under on Sunday, and hometown competitor Wilson Schmitz of Huntsville, Alabama, who delivered a steady +2 finish despite the tightening leaderboard.
Rounding out the top five were Oliver Bean (Chattanooga, TN), Michael Collins (Gardendale, AL), and Sam Smith (Cedartown, GA), all finishing at +4 in one of the deepest mid-pack battles of the weekend.
Farmlinks rewarded aggressive shot-making but punished mistakes, and Barnett’s ability to stay composed while opponents surged around him ultimately secured a well-earned HJGT victory.
