High Bridge, NJ — October 18–19, 2025
The Northern Jersey Junior Open, hosted by the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour at High Bridge Hills Golf Club, brought together some of the region’s best young golfers for a weekend of intense, high-level competition under brisk fall skies. The rolling terrain and swirling winds at High Bridge Hills made for demanding conditions, testing every aspect of each player’s game — and the champions rose to the occasion.
In the Boys 16–18 Division, Staten Island’s Anthony Rzeszutko delivered a steady and composed performance to take home the title at +6 (74–72). Rzeszutko’s ball control and confident putting separated him from a talented field that included runner-up Caleb Walsh of Pennsylvania, who finished one shot back, and Cole Maller of Maryland, who claimed third at +9.
The Boys 14–15 Division featured one of the closest finishes of the weekend, with Josh Yoo of Glen Rock, NJ, edging out Charlie Kaufman of Montville by a single stroke. Yoo’s consistency from tee to green across rounds of 78 and 76 (+14) proved to be the difference as he held off a late charge from Kaufman’s 73 on Sunday.
In the Boys 12–13 Division, Jack Elia of Chatham, NJ, put together two disciplined rounds of 78 and 77 (+15) to secure the win. Elia’s composure under pressure and precision around the greens helped him stay ahead of New York’s Edward Song (+19) and Pennsylvania’s James Gannon (+21).
The youngest field of the weekend saw Lucas Miguel Garcia of Cedar Knolls, NJ, capture the Boys 10–11 Division crown with rounds of 74 and 81 (+15). His aggressive style and confident short game carried him to victory over Fraser Gannon of Doylestown, PA, and Thomas Liu of Summit, NJ.
On the girls’ side, Emma Otterburn of New York City emerged victorious in the Girls 14–18 Division, carding rounds of 81 and 85 (+26) to outlast Marietta Hartmann of Devon, PA. Otterburn’s steady tempo and ability to handle the fast greens set her apart as she clinched the title with confidence. In the Girls U13 Division, Ria Nenavath of Chester, NJ, dominated her field, posting an impressive 79 and 78 (+17) to win decisively and continue her rise as one of New Jersey’s most promising young players.
The Northern Jersey Junior Open once again highlighted the depth of talent and competitive spirit within junior golf. From veterans of the HJGT circuit to emerging young stars, the event showcased poise, sportsmanship, and championship-caliber golf — a fitting reflection of what the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour represents.
