Silvis, IL — October 25–26, 2025 The TPC Deer Run Junior Open delivered an unforgettable weekend of competition as junior golfers from across the country descended upon the storied TPC at Deere Run, a course known for its championship pedigree and demanding layout. Across two days of play, shifting autumn winds, slick greens, and narrow fairways tested every facet of the players’ games — rewarding patience, precision, and mental toughness. In the Boys 16–18 Division, Brennan Weckwerth of Rochester, Minnesota, emerged as the standout performer, claiming the title with a two-day total of +8 (70–80–150). Weckwerth opened with an impressive 70, setting the pace early and holding off a talented field despite a challenging second round. Rowan Banning of Leawood, Kansas, finished close behind at +12 (76–78–154), showcasing consistency throughout the weekend. Rounding out the top three was Grant Hickman of Elmhurst, Illinois, who carded +14 (79–77–156) with a strong finish to secure his place among the event’s best. In the Boys 14–15 Division, Oliver Theel of Lakeville, Minnesota, delivered a composed performance en route to victory, finishing at +14 (77–79–156). Theel’s ability to stay steady under pressure proved key on a weekend where scoring came at a premium. Mitchell Shroyer of Middleton, Wisconsin, placed second at +17 (81–78–159), while Julian Bugara of Prospect Heights, Illinois, took third at +21 (84–79–163). Each of these players displayed remarkable discipline navigating TPC Deere Run’s signature elevation changes and undulating greens. The Boys 12–13 Division saw Cameron Nevara of Belvidere, Illinois, capture his first HJGT title with a two-day total of +39 (91–90–181). Rounding out the weekend, the Girls 14–18 Division featured a hard-fought win by Gabriella Stephens of Volo, Illinois, who finished at +39 (87–94–181). In the Boys 16–18 Division, Austin Rinkenberger of Wildwood, Missouri, emerged victorious with a composed +1 (71–74—145) performance. His steady play earned him a narrow win over Evan Hall of Ontario, Canada, and Sumner Meekhof of Michigan, who both finished at +4 (148). The Boys 14–15 Division saw Julian Bugara of Prospect Heights, Illinois, capture the title at +12 (75–81—156), holding off a tie for second between Braxton Hollan of South Dakota and Owen Purdin of Wisconsin, both carding +14 (158). In the Boys 12–13 Division, Cristián Castillo Botrán from Guatemala City, Guatemala, delivered a standout performance with an even-par finish of E (70–74—144) to secure the victory, displaying international poise under pressure. For the Boys 10–11 Division, Thatcher Stuit of Ada, Michigan, continued his dominant season with a winning score of +8 (75–77—152), edging Isaac Lee of New Jersey by three strokes. Yorkville, IL — The Chicagoland Season Finale, hosted by the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour at Whitetail Ridge Golf Club, brought together top junior golfers from across the region for one final test of skill and endurance to close out the 2025 season. In the Boys 16–18 Division, hometown favorite Kashton Wilson of Yorkville delivered a memorable performance, shooting a strong 71 (E) in the final round to claim the title at 150 (+8). His poise under pressure capped off a season highlight for the Illinois native. Julian Bugara of Prospect Heights, IL, dominated the Boys 14–15 Division, opening with a remarkable 69 (-2) and cruising to victory with a 41-stroke lead — one of the largest margins of the weekend. In the Boys 12–13 Division, Cameron Nevara of Belvidere, IL, impressed with consistent rounds of 84–80 (+22) to take the win, while Aviel Cornett of Winfield, IL, earned top honors in the Girls U13 Division, firing rounds of 84–83 (+25) to secure her title. The Chicagoland finale showcased grit, talent, and sportsmanship — a fitting close to an exciting HJGT season in the Midwest, where new champions were crowned and future stars made their mark.
