FRONT ROYAL – The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the Northern Virginia Spring Junior Open this past weekend from May 13-14. The 36-hole tournament held at the Bowling Green Country Club had almost 40 participants.
First place in the boys 16-18 division was Rua Kimotho from Fairfax, VA. Kimotho made par 25 times with four birdies, he brought in scores of 73 and 72 totaling 145 for the weekend. This is Kimotho’s fifth win since joining HJGT in 2021. Runner up for the weekend is Patrick Carl from Mount Airy, MD with scores of 73 and 75 he ended the weekend with a total of 148. To finish up top three honors Liam Foster from Charlottesville, VA scored a 74 and 75 for a total of 149.
In the boys 14-15 division, Owen Love from Alexandria, VA scored a 69 and 79, he made par 21 times with six birdies giving him a weekend total of 148. Love previously placed first in the 2022 Laurel Hill Junior Open, Reston National Junior Open, Mid Atlantic Fall Junior Open and Mid Atlantic Junior Open. Armaan Osterman from Farifax, VA was the runner up with scores of 77 and 80 totaling 157 for the weekend. Finishing up top three honors was Jake Stansbury from Herndon, VA scored an 85 and 81 for a combined total of 166.
Colton Rodgers from Great Falls, VA placed first in the boys 11-13 division. Rodgers made par 22 times with four birdies, bringing in scores of 73 and 77 he finished off the weekend with a total of 150. This is Rodger’s first win of the year and he previously won three tournaments in 2022. Runner up was Ethan Trobaugh from Southlake, TX with scores of 84 and 78 for a total of 162. With scores of 84 and 80 and a weekend total of 164, Dylan Desjarlais from Leesburg, VA finishes up top three honors.
Lillian McDermott from Yorktown, VA brought in scores of 74 and 76, she made par 21 times with four birdies, totaling 150 for the weekend. McDermott placed first in the 2022 Williamsburg Junior Open. Leela Kenwood from Bethesda, MD scored a 79 and 76 for a total of 155 putting her as runner up. With scores of 96 and 94 and a weekend total of 190, Sophie Ochiai from Great Falls, VA finishes up top three honors.
Tied for first place in the girls under 13 division are Holy Hinton from Bethesda, MD and Rachel Zhu from DC, DC. Hinton made par six times with scores of 100 and 94 and Zhu made par five times with scores of 96 and 98 both ended the weekend with a total of 194.
