KANSAS CITY – The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Major Championship at Tiffany Greens this past weekend from July 22-23. Boys and girls traveled from all over the country to participate in the 36-hole tournament. The event had five divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Girls 14-18 and Girls U13.

In the boys 16-18 division, Blaine Sullivan from Olathe, KS placed first. This was his second event of the year and his first win. With seven birdies on the weekend, he had scores of 74 for both days. Sullivan finished the tournament with a total of 148 strokes to take the champion title. Parker Boggins from Olathe, KY took home the runner up honors on the weekend. Boggins had scores of 78 in round 1 and 74 in round 2 totaling 152 strokes. This was Parker’s first event of the year and will play next in August at the Kansas City Junior Open at Shoal Creek. Asher Rust from Walnut Grove, MN finishes up in the top three honors with a scorecard of 153 strokes.

In the boys 14-15 division, Stuart Boulware from Fairway, KS participated in his first HJGT tournament of the year and brought in an outstanding scorecard. His scores of 72 in round 1 and 70 in round 2 along with eight birdies. Boulware ended the tournament with a fantastic score of 142 strokes. With a final score of 152, Henry Mayor from Mission Hills, KS places as the runner up honors on the weekend. This follows a first place win at the Kansas City Junior Open at Eagles Landing where he had a scorecard of 150 strokes. Tejas Mishra from Bangalore, India finished up the top three honors with scores of 79 and 78 totaling 157 strokes.

On round 1 he had a score of 82 and an 86 in round 2 along with four birdies. Brace ended the tournament with 168 strokes to secure his win. Currently he is within the Top 15 players of HJGT point rankings.

Izzy Hassebrock from Springfield, IL was our first place finisher in the girls 14-18 division. This was Hassebrock’s first event with the HJGT, she did a great job on the course. She brought in scores of 76 for both days and four birdies, ending the weekend with a score of 152 strokes. The runner up honors went to Grace Tiedemann from Rogersville, MO. Tiedemann had a one eagle on the weekend and scores of 82 and 84 totaling 166 strokes. Makenna Kincheloe from Parkville, MO finishes up top three honors with a final score of 172.

To finish off a great weekend, Peyton Bundrant from Overland Park, KS was crowned champion of the girls under 13 division. On round 1 she brought in a score of 84 and an 86 in round 2 for a weekend total of 170 strokes. This follows a first place win at the St. Louis Summer Junior Open.
