PLYMOUTH – The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Major Championship at the Crosswinds Golf Club from June 3-4. Boys and girls traveled from around the country to participate in the 36-hole tournament. The event had four divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys U10 and Girls 14-18.
Leading the boys 16-18 division was Stephen Ramos from Danville, NH. Ramos had an outstanding scorecard for the weekend. With three birdies on the weekend, he brought in scores of 79 for both days. Ramos finished the weekend with 158 strokes to take home the win. He is the fourth place point leader in the HJGT poing rankings. With one birdie and scores of 81 and 82, Hunter Dunkin takes runner up honors in his 3rd HJGT tournament. Finishing up top three honors, Leo Dixon from Bedford, NH had a total score of 170 for the weekend.
Newcomer to the HJGT, Joseph Hansen from Cumberland Center, ME secured this first place win in the boys 14-15 division. With a round 1 score of 84 and 80 for round 2, he had a combined total of 164 strokes. Hansen is in the Top 10 for HJGT point rankings. The runner up honors went to Marc Twombly from Scarborough, ME. His scores of 84 and 83 gave him a total of 167 strokes. Finishing up top three honors, Brian Li from Newton, MA put up scores of 89 and 80 for a weekend total of 169.
With his 7th first place win in a row, Liam Rotatori from Stamford, CT is the reigning champion in the boys under 10 division. With three birdies on the weekend, he brought in scores of 93 for round 1 and 91 for round 2. He took the victory with a total of 184 strokes. Liam will participate in the Major Championship at Birdsfoot coming up this weekend to defend his first place title.
To finish off a great weekend, Heyon Choi from Andover, MA was crowned the girls 14-18 champion. This was Choi’s first HJGT tournament of the year and her first win. Her total for the weekend was 166 strokes.
