WILLIAMSBURG – The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the Kingsmill Junior Open at the Kingsmill Country Club from June 3-4. Boys and girls traveled from all over the country to participate in the 36-hole tournament. The event had five divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10 and Girls U13.
Taking home first place in the boys 16-18 division was Elijah Felty from North Chesterfield, VA. Felty brought in an impressive scorecard this weekend. With six birdies on the weekend, he scored a 72 in round 1 and 73 in round 2 totaling 145 for the weekend. Ellis Hobbie from Glen Allen, VA put up scores of 74 and 72 to secure him the spot of runner up honors. Zazael Arlan Atendido from Bensenville, IL brought in his lowest score in an HJGT tournament. He placed in the top three honors with a total of 148.
In the lead for the boys 14-15 division was Armaan Osterman from Fairfax, VA. With six birdies on the weekend, he brought in two scores of 75. Osterman was able to secure the first place win with 150 strokes. Armaan has been playing with HJGT since 2020 with over 20 tournaments under his belt. He currently holds first place in the HJGT point rankings. The runner up honors went to Ryan Moseley. Moseley, from Vienna, VA brought in scores of 88 and 83 totaling 171. Finishing up top three honors, Luke Wargo from Warrenton, VA finished the weekend with a score of 205 strokes.
In his first HJGT tournament of 2023, Henry Easmeil from Norfolk, VA led the boys 11-13 division. He played a great game on the course this weekend. With three birdies, he put up scores of 80 for round 1 and 82 for round 2. Easmeil finished the weekend with a total of 162 to bring him his victory. With a score of 178, Drew Brink from Winter Springs, FL took home the runner up honors. Drew holds the first place spot in HJGT point rankings.
Zac Collucci from Aldie, VA is a newcomer to the HJGT, this past weekend was his first tournament. With a round 1 score of 111 and 107 for round 2, he totaled 218 strokes taking home the first place win. After his first win, he is in the Top 20 for HJGT point rankings. We applaud his efforts and can’t wait to see him on tour again!
To finish off a great weekend, Nirvika Koduru from Ashburn, VA placed first in the girls 14-18 division. Koduru has been playing with HJGT since 2022 and has three other first place wins under her belt. With 6 birdies on the weekend, she was able to take the win with only 158 strokes.
