SUWANEE – The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the Invited Club Series #6 at Bear’s Best this past weekend from July 29-30 at the Bear’s Best Golf Club. Boys and girls traveled from all over the country to participate in the 36-hole tournament. The event had five divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Girls 14-18 and Girls U13.

Leading the boys 16-18 division was Joshua Mitchell from Atlanta, GA. Mitchell did a great job on the course in his first event of 2023. With one eagle and eight birdies on the weekend, he had scores of 74 and 71. Joshua ended the weekend with a total of 145 strokes to take the champion title. The runner-up honors went to Nathan Peji from Dunwoody, GA. Peji brought in 10 birdies along with scores of 75 and 71, he ended the weekend with a final score of 146. Finishing up the top three honors, Matthew Murphy from Roswell, GA with scores of 75 and 74 totaling 149 strokes for the weekend.

In the boys 14-15 division, Will Wazevich from Alpharetta, GA finished in first place. This was Will’s first event of 2023 and his first win in an HJGT tournament. Jack Brewster from Johns Creek, GA and Derek Wolfe from Greenwich, CT tied for the runner-up honors on the weekend. Both players were able to bring in impressive scores of 172 strokes.
