GREENWOOD – The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Indianapolis Junior Open at the Hickory Stick Golf Club from June 24-25. Boys and girls traveled from all over the country to participate in the 36-hole tournament. The event had three divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15 and Girls 14-18.
In his first HJGT tournament of the year, Coen Bauschek from Greenwood, IN took home first place in the boys 16-18 division. Bauschek brought in an impressive scorecard for the weekend. With two birdies on the weekend, he had a round 1 score of 78 and 77 for round 2. Coen finished the weekend with a total of 155 strokes. The runner up honors went to Max Terrell from Crestwood, KY. With one eagle on the weekend, he put up scores of 70 and 86 totaling 156 strokes, his best HJGT tournament score of 2023. Finishing up top three honors was Ocean Krisna Permana from Carmel, IN. His scores of 77 and 78 gave him a total of 157.
In the boys 14-15 division, Oscar Frye from Brownsburg, IN was the first place champion. He brought in scores of 75 in round 1 and 77 in round 2 for a total of 152 strokes. This was his lowest score of the year and his third win. Corbin O’Hara from Granger, IN takes home the runner up honors. With one birdie, his scores of 83 and 89 gave him a weekend total of 189 strokes.
To finish off a great weekend, Olivia Bailey from Rochester, IN won first place in the girls 14-18 division. This was Olivia’s second tournament of the year and her first win. She brought in scores of 75 and 77 totaling 152 for the weekend. Rowen Pfeifle and Abigail Rich tied for the runner up honors. Both players played in their first tournament of the year and were able to bring in impressive scores of 164 strokes.
