KISSIMMEE – The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the Falcon’s Fire Junior Open at the Falcon’s Fire Golf Club from July 22-23. Boys and girls traveled from all over the globe to participate in the 36-hole tournament. The event had six divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18 and Girls U13.
Tied for first place in the boys 16-18 division was Andres Hernandez from Aguascalientes, Mexico and Vijay Kumar from Reunion, FL. Both players brought in exceptional scorecards for the weekend. Hernandez brought in six birdies and Kumar brought in nine, both brought in scores of 73 and 74 for a total of 147 strokes. Jason Chan from Virginia Water, United Kingdom, Sebastian Fernandez from Windermere, FL and Alejandro Scarpetta Rivas from Bogota, Colombia all tied for the top three honors. All three players brought in a combined score of 151 strokes.
In the boys 14-15 division, Kaden Puranik from Chesterton, IN was our champion this past weekend. With three birdies on the weekend, he brought in scores of 77 in round 1 and 71 in round 2. Puranik finished the tournament with a total of 148 strokes to secure his second win of the year. The runner up honors went to Chi-Che Hung from Taipa, Macau. Hung is a newcomer to the HJGT and did a great job this past weekend. His scores of 78 in round 1 and 82 in round 2 gave him a total score of 160 strokes. Finishing up the top three honors in a tie was Chase Croft from Windermere, FL and Eduardo Marin from Managua, Nicaragua both bringing in a total score of 162.
Leading the boys 11-13 division was Yuhao Wang from Orlando, FL. With one eagle and five birdies, he had a round 1 score of 85 and a 73 in round 2. Wang ended the weekend in first place with a total of 158 strokes, his best score of the year and his second win. Hanzhong Shen from Shaghai, China took home the runner up honors on the weekend. This was Shen’s first tournament and he put up scores of 78 and 84 totaling 162 strokes. Jad Mourine from Paris, France finishes up the top three honors with a final score of 171. Mourine is currently within the Top 30 of HJGT players.
In the boys under 10 division, Haoxuan Cai from Shanghai, China played in his first HJGT tournament and finished the weekend in first place. On round 1 he brought in a score of 90 and an 85 in round 2, ending the tournament with a scorecard of 175 strokes. The runner up honors went to Allan Aigang Zhang from Shanghai, China. His scores of 95 in round 1 and 87 in round 2 gave him a combined score of 182 strokes. Emmett Apostal from Naples, FL finished up the top three honors with scores of 118 and 115 totaling 233 strokes.
Shuyi Cao from Guangzhou, China placed first in the girls 14-18 division. Cao did a fantastic job on the course this past weekend. With five birdies on the weekend, she scored a 79 in round 1 and a 72 in round 2. Shuyi finished the tournament with 151 strokes to take the champion title. Noha Ghadi from Rabat, Morocco and Abigail Smith from Port Saint Lucie, FL tied for the runner up honors on the weekend with final scores of 152 strokes. Both players are in the Top 3 for HJGT point rankings.
To finish off a great weekend, Ananyaa Sood from New Delhi, India played in her first tournament with the HJGT and was crowned champion of the girls under 13 division. Sood brought in an exceptional scorecard for the weekend. Her scores of 74 and 70, along with a total of four birdies gave her a total score of 144 strokes. Newcomer, Jessica Stine from Tampa, FL took home the runner up honors. Stine put up scores of 83 in round 1 and 87 in round 2 totaling 170 strokes. Zihan Wang from Shanghai, China finished up the top three honors with a scorecard of 180 strokes.
