FAIRFIELD – The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Connecticut Summer Kickoff at the Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course from June 24-25. Boys and girls traveled from all over the country to participate in the 36-hole tournament. The event had six divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18 and Girls U13.
Taking the lead in the boys 16-18 division was Scott Petrosky from Bristol, CT. Petrosky did a great job this past weekend and brought in an exceptional scorecard. With one eagle and seven birdies on the weekend, he brought in scores of 71 and 69. Scott secured the win with a total score of 140 strokes. This was his second tournament of the year and his first win. In his first tournament of the year, Sajiv Mehta from Scarsdale, NY takes home the runner up honors. With a round 1 score of 72 and 84 in round 2, he finished the weekend with 156 strokes. Finishing up top three honors was Sawyer Dalzell from Westport, CT with a total score of 157 strokes.
In the boys 14-15 division, Ravi Khanna from Fairfield, CT was our first place finisher. With a round 1 score of 76 and 71 in round 2 along with six birdies on the weekend, he totaled 147 strokes. This was Khanna’s lowest tournament score and his first win of the year. The runner up honors went to Griffin Lawlor from Norwalk, CT. His scores of 75 and 74 gave him a total of 149 strokes for the weekend, also bringing in his lowest HJGT tournament score of the year. With a total of 157 strokes, Kaiden Capurso from Bayport, NY finishes up the top three honors. Capurso is currently ranked within the Top 30 of the HJGT point rankings.
In the boys 11-13 division, Lucas Flynn from Melrose, MA took home the first place win. This was Flynn’s second HJGT tournament of the year and his second win. With four birdies on the weekend he brought in scores of 80 and 83 totaling 163 strokes. With a total score of 175 strokes, David Bazile places as our runner up honors. Bazile, from Westport, CT is a newcomer to the HJGT and participated in his first tournament this past weekend. William Liao from Westport, CT is another newcomer to the HJGT. Liao finishes up our top three honors with scores of 91 and 105 totaling 196 strokes.
Taking home his 10th win in a row was Liam Rotatori from Stamford, CT. With one eagle and four birdies on the weekend, he brought in scores of 79 and 73 totaling 152 strokes. Rotatori participates in HJGT tournaments almost every weekend and his total score improves with each tournament.
In her first HJGT tournament of the year, Olivia Dahn from Bristol, CT was crowned champion in the girls 14-18 division. She brought in scores of 79 for round 1 and 81 for round 2 along with one birdie on the weekend. Olivia finished the weekend with a total of 160 strokes. The runner up honors went to Alexandra Freeman from Greenwich, CT with a total of 161 strokes. Freeman has participated in 27 HJGT tournaments and this was her 10th Top 10 finish. Sydney Dweck from Darien, CT finishes up the top three honors with a total score of 162 strokes. Dweck is a longtime HJGT player, this was her 22nd Top 10 finish.
To finish off a great weekend, longtime HJGT player Grace Rotatori from Stamford, CT was the first place winner in the girls under 13 division. Rotatori brought in an outstanding scorecard for the weekend. With two eagles on the weekend she brought in scores of 77 and 73. She was able to secure her ninth win of the year with 150 strokes.
