LEXINGTON – The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the College Prep Series this past weekend from May 13-14. The 36-hole tournament was held at the University Club of Kentucky with over 50 participants.
First place in the boys 16-18 division was Maxwell Johnson from Daniel Island, SC with scores of 71 and 75, he made par 24 times with five birdies totaling 146 for the weekend. Johnson previously tied for first in the 2023 54 Hole Huntsville Junior Open. Runner up is Christian Clements from Louisville, KY. Clements scored an 80 and 70 for a total of 150. With scores of 74 and 77 for a total of 151, Jack Besner from Whiteland, IN placed in the top three honors.
Rylan Jones from Elizabethtown, KY made par 15 times with two birdies, his scores of 89 and 77 gave him a total of 166 placing him in first in the boys 14-15 division. Runner up for the weekend was Parker Geldhof from Lexington, KY with scores of 85 and 89 for a total of 174. Sy McDaniel from Lexington, KY finishes up the top three honors with scores of 91 and 92 totaling 183 for the weekend.
First place in the boys 11-13 division was Griffin Jackson from Glasgow, KY. Jackson brought in scores of 77 and 74, he made par 21 times with five birdies giving him a total score of 151. Grant Guetig from Louisville, KY scored a 77 and 76 for a total of 153 placing him as runner up. Finishing up top three honors was Hunter Majors from Louisville, KY he scored a 73 and 82 for a weekend total of 155.
In the girls 14-18 division, Katie Roberts from Calvert City, KY placed first. She made par 24 times with two birdies, scoring a 77 and 76 for a total of 153. This is Roberts second year in a row placing first in the College Prep Series at UK. Tied for the runner up honors are Abigayle Buchanan from Richmond, KY and Sydney McClanahan from Bowling Green, KY. Buchanan scores of 76 and 83 and McClanahan scores of 78 and 81, both players totaled a score of 151.
Carol Ann Mendenhall from Nicholasville, KY brought in scores of 80 and 76, she made par 20 times with four birdies for a weekend total of 156. Mendenhall has previously won six HJGT tournaments.
