AMES – The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the College Prep Series at Iowa State at the Veenker Memorial Golf Course from June 28-29. Boys and girls traveled from all over the country to participate in the 36-hole tournament. The event had three divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15 and Girls 14-18.

Henry Hartquist from Luverne, MN was our first place finisher in the boys 16-18 division. Hartquist did an outstanding job on the course and brought in great scorecards. With seven birdies for the tournament, he put up scores of 76 and 73. Henry finished off the tournament with a total of 149 strokes. This follows a 4th place finish at the College Prep Series at Iowa where he had a score of 154. The runner up honors went to JJ Grimm from Coralville, IA. Grimm had one eagle and two birdies for the tournament; he finished with a total score of 151 strokes. Dillon Croco from Oxford, IA finishes up the top three honors, he put up scores of 82 and 73 for a total of 155 strokes.

Leading the boys 14-15 division was Carson Korver from Orange City, IA. This is Korver’s second tournament of the year and his first win. With a total of three birdies, he put up scores of 74 and 77 for a total of 151 strokes. Newcomer to the HJGT, Parker Rodgers from Nevada, IA takes home the runner up honors. With scores of 77 for both rounds he had a total of 154 strokes.

To finish off a great tournament, Hannah Graves from Illinois City, IL was our champion in the girls 14-18 division. Graves is an up-and-coming player on tour, this week she was able to bring in her best score yet. With a round 1 score of 85 and 94 in round 2, she finished with a total of 179 strokes. Hannah is currently within the Top 30 of HJGT point rankings. Avery Van Horn from Lincol, NE played in her first HJGT tournament this week and took home the runner up honors, she finished the tournament with a total score of 181 strokes.
