WHEATON – The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the Cantigny Summer Junior Open at the Cantigny Golf Club from July 26-27. Boys and girls traveled from all over the country to participate in the 36-hole tournament. The event had five divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Girls 14-18 and Girls U13.

Tied for first place in the boys 16-18 division was Dominic Howard from Aurora, IL and Max Oberweis-Manion from Los Altos, CA. Howard is a newcomer to the HJGT and this was his first tournament, he brought in scores of 80 and 75 along with three birdies. Oberweis-Manion brought in three birdies and scores of 76 and 79. Both ended the tournament with scores of 155 strokes. Quinn Knight from Lake Forest, IL finishes up the top three honors. Knight brought in scores of 79 in round 1 and 80 in round 2 for a total of 159 strokes.

In the boys 14-15 division, Jack Zeiger from Chicago, IL finished the tournament in first place. Zeiger brought in six birdies, he scored a 78 in round 1 and a 74 in round 2. He ended the tournament with a total of 152 strokes. This was Jack’s third win of the year. In his first HJGT tournament, Tyler Burchett from Rochester, NY took home the runner-up honors. With four birdies, he had scores of 78 and 77 for a total of 155 strokes. Fitzpatrick Knight from Lake Forest, IL finishes up the top three honors. His scores of 80 and 85 gave him a total of 165 strokes. This was Knight’s fourth Top 3 finish of the year.

Newcomer to the HJGT, Joshua Coniaris from Downers Grove, IL was our first place finisher in the boys 11-13 division. This was Coniaris’ third event of the year and his first win. He had scores of 89 in round 1 and 80 in round 2 for a total of 169 strokes. The runner-up honors went to Blake Sarkady from Chicago, IL. Sarkady did a great job on the course to bring in his lowest score of the year. In round 1 he scored a 98 and a 95 in round 2 totaling 193 strokes.

Leading the girls 14-18 division was Kelby Anderson from International Falls, MN. Johnsen ranked in the Top 50 players of HJGT point rankings. Taylor Bush from Mokena, IL finishes up in the top three honors with a scorecard of 176 strokes.

To finish off a great tournament, Nicha Chaosaowapa from Chicago, IL was crowned champion of the girls under 13 division. This was Nicha’s second tournament and second win of the year. She ended the tournament with scores of 86 and 94 for a final score of 180.
