BELCHERTOWN – The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the Boston Summer Finale at Cold Spring Country Club from August 5-6. Boys and girls traveled from all over the globe to participate in the 36-hole tournament. The event had four divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Bous U10 and Girls 14-18.
Yuhao Liu played in his first HJGT tournament this past weekend and was the first-place finisher in the boys 16-18 division. Liu, from Shenzhen, China brought in an outstanding scorecard for the weekend. With eight birdies, he brought in a round 1 score of 70 and a score of 72 in round 2. He secured the win with a total of 141 strokes. The runner-up honors went to Jonathan Burke from Reading, MA. Burke brought in four birdies and scores of 70 and 73, totaling 143 strokes. This was Burke’s eighth Top 10 finish of the year. Finishing up the top three honors was Ryan Jian Huaizhi from Shenzhen, China with a scorecard of 150 strokes. This follows a first-place win at the Union County Junior Open where he scored a 148.
In the boys 14-15 division, Michael Murray from Belchertown, MA took home the first place win, this was his first HJGT tournament. With eight birdies, he brought in scores of 71 in round 1and 73 in round 2 for a combined total of 144 strokes. The runner up honors went to Declan Ward from Barrington, RI. In round 1 he scored a 77 and a 75 in round 2, totaling 152 for the weekend. Declan has five Top 10 finishes under his belt so far this year. Enze Miao from Thosand Oaks, CA finishes up the top three honors with scores of 79 and 75, ending the weekend with 154 strokes.
In the boys under 10 division, Liam Rotatori from Stamford, CT took home the win. With three birdies on the weekend, he brought in scores of 89 and 81. Rotatori secured the win with a total of 179 strokes. This follows a first place win at the College Prep Series at UVA with a score of 181 strokes.
To finish off a great weekend, Amanda Adams from Winchester, MA finished in first place in the girls 14-18 division. This was her third event of 2023 and her first win. With three birdies on the weekend, she brought in scores of 81 for both days. Adams finished the weekend with a final score of 162. Jingfei Liu from and Shuyi Wang from Beijing, China tied for the runner-up honors on the weekend. Liu had two birdies and scores of 90 and 77 while Wang had one eagle, two birdies and scores of 86 and 81. Both players ended the weekend with an impressive 167 strokes.
