On Sunday, September 11, 2016, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Tampa, FL to host the Tampa Bay Junior Shootout at East Lake Woodlands Golf and Country Club. Sunshine was abundant on the first round, September 10, temperatures reaching low 90s and continued sunshine following by the next day. The HJGT would like to thank the East Lake Woodlands Tampa Bay staff for allowing us to host our tournament at a great venue. Important factors that were at stake for the players; the top 10 finishers received points towards year end honors which include state teams, ALL HJGT teams, the Hurricane Cup, and Junior Golf Scoreboard Rankings (JGS), and winners in each division will receive an exemption into the 2016 National Championship December 3-4, 2016. Once that first tee shot sored through the air, the golfers were ready to put their clubs to the ball and make their mark on the course.


Boys 16-18 Division



Jacob Soucinek of Lake City, FL, was the champion of the Boys 16-18 division. Soucinek was able to seal up the first place position after shooting 77 and 72. Prescott Butler of Old Westbury, NY and Bryce Reed of Oldsmar, FL tied for the second place trophy after each player shooting a total of 150 for the tournament. The third place trophy went to Hunter DeSena of Lutz, FL. Lutz finished the 36 Hole Challenge with a total score of 152. Each player had an amazing experience, while competing against top competitors across the nation.


Boys 14-15 Division



Matthew Soucinek of Lake City, FL was the champion of the Boys 14-15 division. Soucinek was able to seal this first place victory by shooting one under the first day 71 and 75 the second day. Will Spivey of Douglas, GA was able to take home the second place trophy after shooting a total of 147. The third place trophy went to Evan Pivacek of Tampa, FL. Pivacek finished the tournament with a total score of 162). 


Boys 11-13 Division



Armand Loscalzo of Tampa , FL took home the first place trophy for the boys 11-13 division. Loscalzo sealed this victory by shooting 73 and 71 for a total of 144. Carson Enright of Longboat Key, FL took home the second place trophy with a total of 157. The third place trophy went to Carter Dill of Tampa, FL who had a total of 158. Each player gained valuable experience that they can take with them into the tail end of the golf season and into next year.



Girls 14-18 Division



Sara Demarco of Lakewood Ranch, FL took home the first place trophy for the Girls 14-18 division. Demarco shot 77 and 80 for a total of 157. Madison Heideman of Largo, FL stole the second place trophy by shooting a total of 159. Maya Isom of Lakewood Ranch, FL shot a total of 175 to steal the third place trophy. All players had a blast competing against each other and they played some incredible golf throughout the weekend.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
