The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour and the Jacksonville Are Golf Association are excited about the upcoming city championship. The JAGA City Jr. Championship will be held at Deerwood Country Club on June 17-18. All junior golfers are invited to come and take on the best Jacksonville has to offer in the quest to become the city champion. There’s more at stake than just bragging rights, with winners in the boys 15-18, girls 15-18, and boys 11-14 divisions earning AJGA Performance Stars if the field size requirements are met. The winners in those divisions will also earn an exemption into a Florida Junior Tour event. Additionally, winners in all divisions will earn an invite to the HJGT’s 2013 Tour Championship. Top ten finishers will earn valuable points towards year end honors, including state teams, Al-HJGT teams, and points towards the inaugural Hurricane Cup. The JAGA City Jr. Championship will be a 36 hole stroke play event that will begin on Saturday, with registration from 6:30AM-8:30AM, and the tee times from 7:30AM-9:30AM off the first and tenth tees. Sunday’s tee times will also run from 7:30AM-9:30AM off of both tees. Registration is $179 for all players. Built in 1960, Deerwood was introduced as the home of several Greater Jacksonville Opens. The entire golf complex underwent a renovation in 2004. The Par 72 course has five sets of tees ranging from 5,463 yards from the reds to 7,223 yards from the championship tees making this course beginner-friendly yet also challenging to the expert golfer.

About us: The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2008 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of four age divisions: Boys 15-18, Boys 11-14, Girls 11-14 and Girls 15-18. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, and Ohio.
