Port St. Lucie, FL (Nov. 17-18)-The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour heads to Port St. Lucie, FL to host the South Florida Junior Classic on November 17th and 18th at the Sandpiper Golf Club at Club Med. Up for grabs in this tournament is an automatic bid into the 2012 Tour Championship, rankings by the National Junior Golf Scoreboard (NJGS), Florida Junior Tour Exemptions, and HJGT points toward year end honors. No membership is needed to participate in this tournament. The South Florida Junior Classic is a stroke play format tournament being held over two days. Each day players will play eighteen (18) holes of golf each day, to make for a thirty-six (36) hole tournament in total. There will be four separate divisions for competition. Players will be put in divisions based on age and the divisions will be as follows: Boys 15-18, Girls 15-18, Boys 11-14, and Girls 11-14. The 18-hole "Sandpiper" course at the Sandpiper Golf Club facility in Lakeland, Florida features 6,442 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 70. The course rating is 70.4 and has a slope rating of 120. Designed by Steven R. Smyers, ASGCA, the Sandpiper golf course opened in 1987.
